2400 is about the most you're going to get out of Sandy Bridge-E, so go for one of the 2400 C9 kits.
    i7 4930K
    32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3-2400C10
    Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
    2x GeForce GTX 780
    Corsair AX1200
    Cooler Master HAF-X
    Dell U3011

the 2800c11 kit will be Hynix CFR, the 2400c9 will be a different IC (Samsung maybe?)

2400 c9 are indeed Samsung, on all the kits posted above by Refa madness, the Corsair I had or saw so far HCH9, the TridentX HYKO. All should give you enough reserve to run at least 2600 Cas 10, normally a bit more, on acceptable voltages.

Yes, the Hynix based stuff is good, but it is more for high clocks at looser timings than the Samsung based ram.

Thing is that on the X79 you aren't going to need DDR3-2800 clocks, so the 2400 C9 Samsung would be a better match for your current parts. I wouldn't recommend trying to match ram for your next rig just yet. You can always upgrade ram, if you think you need to, whenever you upgrade the rest of your components.

    Edit:
Really, more than anything else, it is probably still too early to know exactly what type of ram is going to work best with a still unreleased platform so to try and buy ram today for a future upgrade is a bit of a crap shoot, in my opinion.

Is it for a gaming setup or die hard benching ? If it's the first don't waste your cash on a 2400C9 kit :p as it will hardly enhance your game experieince

It could well be your CPU's IMC can't even handle 2400c9 for 24/7...

With Haswell around the corner, people are expecting +3000MHz daily speeds. I would buy a 2133C9 or a quad channel 2400C10 kit... no need to cash out, unless you really feel the need too...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

No screenshots I had to put the vtt voltage at high level and was advised to turn them down. Left everything on auto with rampage board put was recording 1.3v voltage didn't want to damage this chip. Didn't do any benchmarks. Didn't know 2400 was the limit with these chips.

    Seriously it's 3930K?
I thought 3930K's IMC is capped at 2400MHz only.
The only SB-E chip which I have ever seen is 3820, 2600MHz doable clocked by Dumo:

my 3960X could run 2500 c7 no problem, never really tested 2600+ back then.

    edit: http://www.hwbot.org/submission/2233...sdram_1320_mhz

I stand corrected, this was with PSC as well.

Nope it is not only DDR4 range...

FYI insiders tell some manufacturers have 3333Mhz in the pipeline...

We will have to see Alex how the current ICs do with Haswell's IMC... it will be a new adventure and that's always big fun !

We've had 3930Ks over 2400Mhz too for benching purposes, daily stability that's something else. However 2800 that must be a golden one... or not :p

Do you think Haswell will be faster than SandyBridge-E with them mem clocks?

SB-E is only good for crunching with more then 8 cores or for 3D rendering purposes. For daily usage/gaming Ivy already kicks SB-E's butt with single/dual GPU setups... I honestly have got no clue why people even consider buying X79 for a daily setup... let alone a gaming rig...

You mean Reefa's infamous memory singularity (Black Hole) located in St. Johns FL.
Ryzen 9 on the test bench... Sometimes older generation/tech as well.
