    Can you overclock Opterons?

So I'm really thinking about plunging and buying 2 Opteron Interlagos 16 cores...

But considering the price, I was thinking of buying lower clocks and then I could overclock them...

Has this ever been done before or is there just no way?

Two ways that it can be done that i know of:
    1. Unlocked ES Samples will allow the multiplier to be changed to a higher setting allowing overclocking.
    2. Find a dual socket G34 motherboard that supports overclocking via the baseclock.

The odds of getting ES chips is pretty low so you probably will have to look for a board that supports overclocking the baseclock. I think Supermicro or Asus either has boards that do that or are developing them currently. I remember a few years ago
s7e9h3n? had an unlocked ES Opteron 12 Core Magny-Cours that he overclocked via multiplier to over 3ghz if remember right. Hope that helps.
