PC Game of the Year 2012

Mark of the Ninja.
I know, I know, it's available on XBLA and works best with an Xbox 360 controller.
But the game is amazing.
Best stealth game since Splinter Cell 2.

This year I caved and bought a wired Xbox 360 controller. I realized that more and more of my games don't actually have "joystick" support, only Xbox 360 controller support.

Oh well there it is. Far Cry 3 is the XS PC GOTY 2012.

Been playing it myself these past few days and it kinda does everything Dishonored does and even more (although Dishonored had better stealth mechanics and assassinations) , but Far Cry 3 is huge and will easily take 4x playtime. My updated rankings now read FC3,Dishonored,TWD,Borderlands 2,AC 3 (others not played yet)

Like it or not many PC games are console ports, but some console ports are actually done well and some console ports are just well worth playing for something they exemplify at. This is why AC3 should be the 2012 GOTY. What other game has you jump off a building, kill two people then jump into water to escape all in one fluid motion that feels more natural than flowing water or has you calmly walk up behind someone to stick them with your assassins blade. Yes people, this is the gameplay of AC3, and it is fantastic.

i will do the same hunt down and cut balls for AC3 too. imo none of the ac games is worth goty they are more then boring but i have to admit they are good at pretending like good games and make people think they are good.

while i agree with you random events in fc3 are ... ok not an innovation but a step forward i think.

It was blindingly obvious I was talking about gameplay, I'm astonished I've even had to clarify that. The story in AC3 isn't exactly compelling and while usually that alone would put me off any game AC3 makes up for it with incredible gameplay thats fluid and natural feeling. To have something described as a "beautiful, interactive slideshow", is a good reason to play that game - it immerses the player.

don't be astonished i am talking about the whole game so gameplay is included too. ok gameplay is good but nothing new nothing special. batman arkham asylum done it better couple of years ago. also do you really think only gameplay can make a game GOTY?

There's MUCH more to a good game than gameplay, you know. Graphics, sound, atmosphere, story, physics, immersion...

I liked Dishonered best honestly, FC3 I just couldn't get into for some reason. But then again I'm not a big fan of oversized sandbox games these days, I'd take a more on rails story driven experience any day.

I played Farcry 3 just recently (still haven't completed it) and was extremely surprised how much I'm enjoying it. I haven't really enjoyed a FPS game in a long time as they tend to be all the same. I'm finding it very satisfying and slick to play and finding the story very driven as long as you don't astray too long from the main story. I wouldn't say there is much new but at least it isn't a game where you have to only go down this corridor, through this door, through this corridor, then this door continually just to progress.

Dishonored didn't pull me in at all, I played it up to the point of my first death and didn't feel the want to try again and continue. I normally like stealthy type games but I didn't feel like I had any real purpose. I probably didn't give it much of a chance. I miss games like the original Thief!

Best game of the year 2012 (in retro) = The Secret World.
No, its not a joke, it took me by storm after I started playing it about 1 month ago. Have made a huge post about it, but its not in english, so not gonna post it here, I will try to be very short here.

Super good gfx/sound/voice acting/music, good story, good consept/setting, many original monsters (some are best ever seen in any game), working combat system in both pve and pvp, modern horror with an edge, better quests system them all other MMOs ++

Its free-to-play, just need to buy it for low price. But its NOT for ppl that love WoW type of MMOs, its alot more complicated (char building), and in a mature modern day horror setting.

I do believe why TSW got some little good PR to begin with, was because the reviewers simply put did not understand/could grip the concept to the game. Players lover it, very high metascore among players. On the other end of the scale Diablo3 got very good reviews, but players give it all time low.
