Upgrade for Xmas Samsung 840 250gb SSD

Can this run on the Bloodrage? I have, I believe, the lastest beta bios. I see newegg has them for $150. I am thinking of treating myself since I haven't upgraded since last xmas.

    Thanks in advance

it should be fine, sata is backwards and forwards compatible. and be aware that those drives use TLC so do not use them for cashing or you will write it to death. they also do not provide provisioning so you get about 210GB (the real kind) once it is configured. i just got mine today i ordered from tiger when it was $150 with a rebate though.

@ zanzabar - thank you for the reply. good to know.

I didn't buy it. I am kinda stuck on the fact the board is only Sata II. I am considering buying an PCI-E Sata III card but don't see much info on Bloodrage with a Sata III card on google. I might go with a Corsair GT or Corsair GS 240... Let me know what you guys thing please?

    Thanks all and Merry Christmas,

I went ahead and ordered the Corsair Force GS 240gb model for Newegg. I also ordered 6gb sata cables to just in case. I haven't ordered a sata 3 card, but it is still an option.

    Thanks,

I ordered a Highpoint 620 to try to speed things up. The Corsair Force GS 240 seems kinda sluggish on the intel ports :-( . I am trying to get a lil more time out of this board before doing my next major upgrade

Rocket 620 is with Marvell 88SE9128 and you should expect a little bit disappointing performance. Also PCI-E 2.0 x1 is limited at about 500MB/sec and Corsair Force GS240 is capable of more.
About next major upgrade - it's real pity Quantumian 1 is not a popular X79 board and in fact is impossible to find in stores. There is no bios support at all - the last version P03 is from 04/19/2012.

I don't expect anything crazy from the Rocket 620 but I am looking at max 220 read and max 210 write as it is. If I can get closer to 400 then it will work. I am going to wait till the end of 2013 to do my next major upgrade. I want to get as much as I can out of my 990x as I can. The Bloodrage has been a damn good board so far. 3+ years out of a board is crazy for me.
    Thanks,

This will have to do till I upgrade my setup. Like therager said "expect a little bit disappointing performance", which I was but I don't have room to test it on the x16 slot cause of the board design but oh well.

I used Marvell 1.0.0.1039 driver. It worked a little faster then the standard window driver and lots faster than newer driver.
