Do they even plan on one?
If AMD just came out of the blue and announced that, they would destroy Intel...
Just saying... any rumors/plans for something similar or will they stick to real cores only?

Bulldozer already does support SMT,in its FP coprocessor. each FlexFP unit is 2-way SMT. So they addressed it last year. This is why 4 fp units in "8 core" Bulldozer can usually compete with 4C/8T(SMT) cores from intel in threaded workloads. It's also why 4 of these units can beat 6 PhenomII cores in various MTed workloads. Of course there are workloads ,even threaded, which don't perform equally good on BD/PD as they do on intel 8T cores or even X6. It's a trade off in design which is not perfect. But good news is that there is a lot of room for improvements.
BD modules are like hyper threading. if you look at the shared cashe and performance hit when you load both "cores" on a module it is just like HT but it works with FP. if amd would have said that the FX 81xx were quad cores with 8 threads then they would not be taking as much for being slow, but they also would have to price them under $150 at launch like they should have anyways.
