    Hi,

I can use this program verywell but I have a little problem. When i unlock the bios with specifical boost speed exp. 1250Mhz, i can only reach 1.182v but if i not determine the gpu boost , my gpu mhz auto. going to 1354mhz and 1.212v. But my gpu cant handle the 1350mhz and crashing. How can i do 1.212v on normanly usage.

    Sorry my bad english ))

I have a couple of questions before using this on my Gigabyte GTX 670 WF3 OC.

    1. What is the Boost Cap feature?
    2. If I change ONLY the voltage, will I expect my card to boost higher than stock?
    3. What clock speed does KGB modify, Boost Clock or Max Boost Clock? AFAIK, Max Boost Clock = Boost Clock + Kepler Boost, correct?
    4. According to KGB and V3DT, my stock Max Boost is 1267. When I ran Heaven, I only see a Max Boost of 1167. Why is this?
    5. Is it better to change the voltage to 1.1875 only and let the card boost to 1.2125 on ots own? Or is setting it directly to 1.2125 a better approach?
    6. What is a safe power target setting for my card?
    7. Why are there two settings of power target?
    8. Is it OK to use the latest GPUZ to get a dump of my stock vBIOS?

    1. It changes the clock table so that the highest clock will be capped at this setting. This is the max boost clock. You card will not boost higher than this setting unless you manually over clock it by software.

    2. Yes, if you have the power headroom.

    3. KGB does not yet touch the Boost Clock. Again the Max_Boost_Freq is really just the highest clock in the clock table.

    4. 1267 is the highest clock your card can achive on its own (it's the highest clock in the clock table set in your bios). You only see it go up to 1167 because you need more voltage, and power. If you use KGB or V3DT to mod your bios for more voltage and power it will boost up to 1267. However one caveat may be your card is unstable at 1267, you would then need to set Max_Boost_Freq to keep it from hitting 1267.

    5. For most cards yes. This allows the card to function as intended. I've seen some strange or unpredictable side effects when running 1.2125. However iv'e also seen where this can eliminate throttling. So your mileage may vary with this one.

    6. I don't know, but I think 150% is quite safe. I have had no reports of anyone blowing their card up yet with KGB.

    7. I suppose your talking about V3DT. From what I can tell there is a GPU power target, and a total board power target. The GPU power target is what is settable in KGB, and is what you see via software adjustment.

    8. Yes

    8. Yes
    1. Got it.

    2. Got it.

    3. Got it.

    4. Got it.

    5. I have no problems with throttling since my card is watercooled by the AC Accelero Hybrid Cooler. So the only advantage of using 1.2125 is to eliminate throttling? Other than that, the max overclock of the card will be the same for both voltages? AFAIK, if you set the card to 1.1875 it will stay at 1.1875 when the card is at its Boost Clock (without KB), right? What if the card is overclocked with software such that the Offset is added to the Boost Clock, wouldn't a constant voltage (instead of 1.18785, we set the card to 1.2125 in vBIOS) be better to ensure that it won't crash at the Boost Clock event?

    6. Got it.

    7. Well, when I use the command "kgb.exe your_bios.rom" I see two values for power: Power Target: 200000 and Max Power Target: 225000 <112%>. What is the difference between both and which setting is changed by KGB or V3DT?

    8. Got it.

    9. Let's say I modify the Max Boost Clock with KGB by adding a non-divisible-by-13 clock speed, will KGB automatically round up or down to the nearest VALID clock speed?

    Thanks

This is all I want, and I want it settable independent of voltage so any voltage can be set to boost to any speed. I'm not having any luck finding how the kepler boost ties in to set voltage.

Depends on your card, 1.2125v may give you a little more vGPU allowing slightly higher clocks than when using 1.1875v. keplers throttles for 2 reasons, first is heat and this begins to affect clocks at 70*C. Second is TDP limit. If someones card is throttling due to either it's not the fault of setting too much voltage, but due to reaching either the temperature or power draw that results in throttling.

First one isnt a command. Its not settable with KGB its there to give you a mathematical reference point for calculating your desired max board power as a % of the 100% board power wattage. Mr Nutz mentioned VDT since this allows you to set the 100% board power wattage to a value other than stock.

Yes, you can test this yourself, put in a non 13 mhz multiple and save the config and use the unlock command, KGB will write the nearest valid 13 mhz multiple to the bios.

    @Cryptik

I understand regarding the throttling but I'm definitely sure that my card won't pass any of the two limits (temp or TDP) because I have good cooling and I can set TDP to max. Well, CrazyNutz himself confirmed that for some reason setting the vBIOS to 1.2125V would eliminate throttling as well regardless of temps I suppose. Have you personally tried setting your card to both voltages and seeing the difference? Some say that they got the same exact overclock for both voltages set to their card.

Got it. The default power target of my card is actually set to 200000, I suppose that means 200W, right? And by default, the max power target is set to 225000 <112%> which means it is the allowable power draw (TDP) set by Gigabyte.

Ok. But let's say I put a value that is in the middle of the 13MHz, will it round it up or down?

Hi, all. A lot of ASUS G75VW and VX users are wondering whether kepler mobile bios can be unlocked.

Just in case there is a possibility here is the complete laptop bios (G75VX):

And here is just the GTX 670MX 3GB bios.

on my ASUS 660 Ti DCII it says can not open BIOS file

    I'm using command: C:\KGB\kgb.exe GK104.rom unlock

    is there something wrong there?

    if I try

    C:\KGB\kgb.exe

    then

    C:\KGB\GK104.rom unlock

it brings up an Open With window instead of using kgb.exe, the window you see when Windows doesn't know what Software to use to open a file.

I used GPU-Z 0.6.7 to save my BIOS rom.

Has anyone tried this with an EVGA GTX670 4GB SC+ ? I just bought one and am disappointed with how it overclocks. It is maxed at 1133 MHz where the Inno3D it replaced did 1280 and scored 1000 points higher in 3D11....

    Hello,

I have a 660 Ti and I use a dual boot with Windows 7 & OSX. Because of a scaling mode inside my GPU BIOS my boot screen doesn't fill the full resolution of my monitor.
I know that the card has support for 1920x1080 in VESA modes.
I believe I need to enable an option called "non-native panel resolution" which should give me 1:1 scaling on my bootloader & BIOS screen however the tool normally used to do this (NiBiTor) doesn't support the 600 series cards.

I was wondering if anyone here is able to help me with adding this feature to my BIOS?

    Thanks

Flashing bios instructions for any Nvidia Keplar GPU.
YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

I wrote this guide as i couldnt find one anywhere.

First of all, You then need to download these files.

GPU-Z (This is used to grab the original Bios from the Gpu wether multi or single)
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2181/mirrors.php

KGB - Kepler BIOS Editor/Unlocker. (This is used to modify the Bios that you just grabbed from your Gpu using Gpu-z)

    KGB supports: GTX690, GTX680, GTX670, GTX660Ti, GTX660OEM and GTX660

New version 0.6.1 (Adjustable Boost control)
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6dimgnx8cxvlca/kgb_0.6.1.zip

    Old version 0.5
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/vrunxuq03vj0m5y/kgb_0.5.zip

NVFLASH (This is used to reflash or reinstall the new modified bios)
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-16133.html

    Steps 1-10.

1.Ok what you need is firstly to make a USB dongle bootable into DOS, To do this read this very easy to follow guide.
    http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm

2.Run GPU-Z and and click on the icon that allows you to grab your bios from the Gpu and save it to your PC.

    The pictures below show how.....

Also make sure you have a copy of your bios!!

3.Once you have grabbed your bios put it into C:\Users\My and rename it 1.rom

For example the bios from the GTX 690 Gpu 1 is called GK104.rom, I renamed it to 1.rom and the bios from Gpu 2 I renamed 2.rom.

The reason why you should put the bios in C:\Users\My is because the default path will be set here from KGB.exe so if you are not familiar with the CMD (Commandline) then this is the easiest way of doing it.

5.Take the KGB.exe as well as the KGB.cfg file and also place both of these in C:\Users\My.
You should now have KGB.exe, KGB.cfg and 1.rom files in C:\Users\My.

If you have more than 1xGpu then you will have 1.rom and 2.rom respectively in C:\Users\My.

6.The next thing to do is open up the CMD (Commandline) which im sure you all know how to do.
Once you have the CMD open, Copy and paste in this command.

    kgb 1.rom unlock (press enter).

It will now save the new values (i.e. from kgb.cfg) in your bios then print out the new values in the bios.

7.Now all we need to do is put the new modified 1.rom back onto the gpu, To do this we need to use the USB DOS bootable Dongle that we created in step 1.

Take the nvflash files once you have extracted them and place them onto the USB DOS bootable Dongle, There should be 2 files.

Then place the 1.rom bios also on the USB DOS bootable Dongle.

8.Now the Dongle is ready to be booted from so reboot the PC and go into the bios.
Once you are in the bios make it so the PC boots from the dongle, Once this happens you will then have a flashing cursor telling you that you are in DOS mode.

9.Type in nvflash --list (press enter)
This will then tell you what gpu(s) that you have installed on your motherboard.

    10.Type in nvflash -i1 1.rom (press enter)

It will then say flashing Gpu and press Y to confirm, so press Y and the flashing will commence which takes a few seconds.

If you have a second gpu with 2.rom.

Type in nvflash -i2 2.rom (press enter)

It will then say flashing Gpu and press Y to confirm, so press Y and the flashing will commence which takes a few seconds.

Once this is done reboot the PC go into the bios and reset your boot so it boots from your hardrive with the Windows OS on.

Once you get into windows you can see from MSI afterburner or EVGA precision that the power target can be raised from 130 to 150.

When gaming the boost clock should be higher depending on your GPU.

I achieved around an increase of 30 on the core clock on boost alone on both GPU's which is very good.

It will differ for each person and each GPU(s), You can also try other peoples bios as long as iyts the same GPU as your own.

You can also modify the KGB.exe and tweak power settings for even more results but I wouldnt advise this unless you know what you are doing, I would just leave it at stock and use that for the time being.

The original Creator of KGB.exe can be found here.

    Additional Information,3rd Feb 2013

v0.6.1 has adjustable Boost clock which are coded into the KGB.

The Boost clock adjust can be found in the .cfg file.

Here is the table with which you should set your boost clock too which are increments of 13mhz.

from Guru3D user Bentez on using NVFlash from inside of Windows:

Just wanted to add if you prefer to not reflash the modded bios using a USB stick you can do it whilst booted in windows.

Once you have modded the bios using KGB download the following version of nvflash
    http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...20Windows.html

Create a folder on your C drive called nvflash. Extract all the contents from the nvflash zip folder to the one you created. Copy your modified bios you created earlier into this folder,

Now type CMD in your start menu, right click and run as administrator

    type

    cd C:\nvflash

    The type

nvflash -4 -5 -6 gk104.rom (or whatever your rom is called)

press (Y) for run, (S) for skip and (A) for abort

If it tells you the bios is protected then type the below in cmd from the nvflash location

    nvflash -4 -5 -6 gk104.rom --protectoff

    now type

    nvflash -4 -5 -6 gk104.rom

nvflash for windows works better btw, no need to reboot into DOS and make bootable things..

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
