    Opinions on a FrankenBox build

I have a friend who's bought a couple rigs from me in the past (made from my old parts)...
Her son is 13 and likes to game, he's been complaining that his system is too slow to keep up with his friends.
So I decided to put together a rig for him (for free)... He's a good kid.

I had to buy a few parts (Case/DVD Drive and Molex to PCI-e power adapter) ~$60 total:
    Case: http://www.microcenter.com/product/3..._Computer_Case ($26 after rebate)
    DVD Drive: http://www.microcenter.com/product/4...2_-_Bare_Drive ($16)
    PCI-e Power adapter: http://www.microcenter.com/product/3..._Power_Adapter ($5)

Here's the rest of the parts used (all leftovers):
Mobo: Asus M3A79-T Deluxe (didn't realize this board would support an X6 with bios update! )
    CPU: AMD 1055
    Memory: 2x1Gb OCZ (DDR2) 1066 5-5-5
HardDrive: Samsung 250Gb PATA (actually pretty quick for a PATA drive)!
Video Card: Sapphire 4870 (requires 2/6 pin Pci-e plugs)
PSU: OCZ (Value Series) 500w with a single 12v rail (28amp), only 1 6pin PCI-e connector, hence the need for the Molex adapter...
Cooling: 2/120mm LED case fans (added one to the front of the case)

I've put the rig together and installed Vista32 and everything seems to be OK. My biggest concern is the PSU.
Using a Kill-a-Watt for system draw I'm getting the following results:
    Idle: ~160w (CnQ enabled)
    Prime Blend: ~240w
    Furmark: ~290w
    Both (Blend/Furmark): ~420w...

Just wanted to see what you folks thought.

Here's a couple pics of the rig... It looks nice anyway!

The Video card it most likely the power draw issue, I think those card had bad idle numbers. Like the build though, should be a decent system.

Dave, you are such a generous guy with a big heart - it is really nice of you to hook that kid up with a full rig like that
Just makes me want to meet and bench with ya more!

If you want to lower idle power consumption for him you can open the 4870 BIOS in RBE and change some things.
I would worry a bit about that PSU myself but normal gaming loads will probably be just 350-400w, and it is at the wall where you're measuring so it should do fine.
