yep, already knew that suspected specs (minus the speed, wich isn't certain to be that) for some months now.
I think that would be 144 texture units, not 140 on the 8950, there's a lot of (mis)information copied from some sites to others going around.
It was to be late march, bus was postponed to Q2, so april~june, and that 8990, well the 7990 didn't really come out (not from amd, there's 7970x2 from TUL (Powercolor, VTX3D, Club3D) and HIS that looks like a 7990), so i'm not expecting to see it that soon.

PCI-E 2.0 will not be enough for these?

it will serve fine for these, they won't get bottlenecked by pci-e 2, just some very specific programs see any advantage to using pci-e 3. Only next (20nm) generation (for 2014) might get a little bottlenecked by pci-e 2.

The 8970 is rumored to also be 1.2x the performance of the 7970 in GPU compute applications.

Time to sell your 7000 series cards. These look sweet. Any speculation on prices yet?

7970 performance at $279 might sell well

not sure yet how they are gonna get good prices and power numbers with the die area increasing everywhere.

If there is still 7970 stock when they come out, which there will be, launch pricing similar to the previous generation's current street price will only devalue the 7XXX series more. The 8970 will debut >$500 and 8950 will be minimally $400, just as the 7950s and 7970s were at launch. As the 7XXX series stock goes down, the pricing of the 8XXX series will go down, just as it has in every generation.

    My guess at launch:

    8970: $550

    8950: $450
