Question Choosing a tablet (IPS 10+ inches, 64+ Gb, USB ports, 10+ hrs battery life, <1 kg)

I just saw thread about Acer W700 and was inspired to create this topic.

So, what I need is specified in the thread title. Actually, I'd also like this tablet to have a detachable keyboard.

I suppose, someone will suggest me to grab an ultrabook, but the point is that I don't really need it. Besides, vendors announced some products that seem to have all the specs I want.

I had a Samsung NC10 netbook and it was enough (except the battery life time) for my tasks when I had no access to my desktop. So, now I need a portable device to replace it. That's why I want the tablet to have USB-ports, capacious storage and a keyboard. The most common tasks were: web-surfing, watching 720p movies, photos backup, playing light games.

At the moment my attention is concentrated on Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 (currently page doesn't open). The only concern is battery time life. It's declared to be up to 10 hours, but I want to know the real figures after real tests.

I also looked at Samsung ATIV Smart PC, but I don't like that keyboard doesn't have an additional battery.

Acer Iconia W700 seems to be very thick with the doc-station.

What else could be an option for me?

By the way, I checked yesterday Lynx specs and was surprised that it has bigger display (in comparison with Thinkpad Tablet 2). Almost all other parameters are the same.

What's the point in selling so similar products? Or I missed something?

I just like the Lynx over the tablet 2 because the keyboard has an extra battery, I use my laptop and will use this for 99% work so battery life is most important to me since I travel a lot for work right now, but the tablet 2 is also very nice, but the tablet 2 it seems to be more of a tablet where I look at the lynx as more of a netbook/tabletish type deal. Since it does not have the rear camera and all only a front facing one and what not.

Are you sure about battery in Tablet 2 keyboard? Because as I understood from keyboard description it should come with battery.

Have you looked at any China Tablets? I know it's a chance you take, but you get a lot more for your $.

    The Rockchip RK3066 chipset is a Dual-Core Cortex A9 @ 1.6 GHz + Quad Core Mali-400 GPU.

    Check out http://www.topnotchtablets.com

I've but my last couple tabs from him and am very pleased. Currently have the Yuandao N101 II and may get the Pipo MP3 as well.

    So many devices...

Can anybody confirm that docstation for Thinkpad Tablet 2 has (or doesn't have) an additional battery? Because it's clearly said that the keyboard for Lenovo Lynx increases battery life up to 16 hours and there's no similar mention for Thinkpad Tablet 2.

Hi L'enFer... I have the Iconia W700... and it's an amazing device...

I post a little "review" (it's not a review really, more like a "presentation") in a forum here in my country...

    http://foro.juegosonline.com.py/inde...howtopic=88898

The text is in spanish... But I think is easy to translate to english with Google

Me and my girlfriend have 2 Iconias W700 from Amazon, received in the 1st week of november (it was the first batch for the pre-orders)... mine is the Core i3 version, while my girlfriends version of the tablet is the Core i5... Fully loaded with some of our apps for software development (SQL Server 2012 & Visual Studio 2012, pending Eclipse and the Android SDK), we have about 20 gb free of storage in the SSD

The battery life is Amazing... From 100% took about 9 hours to drain the battery to 5%.. and thats in the Balanced Power Profile... in a modified High Performance Profile, it last 7:30 to 8 hours... In full use, like a laptop for work, the battry last about 6 hours... the tablet fully charges his battery in about 1:30 hours

PS: my english is not the best, because it's not my native language, sorry if some of my words can be misinterpreted

Like a laptop means that you used your Acer with keyboard attached?

    Hi! thanks!

Yeah, when i'm saying "like a laptop", I mean putting the tablet in their dock, or using their brown cover (i acts like a stand too) with the BT Keyboard included in the box... and programming & compiling applications / surface the web / watch some of my HD 720p videos streamed from my home server

The Iconia comes with the charger, the dock (with USB 3.0 expander, little note, only works with the charger connected), the mHDMI to VGA Adapter, a brown cover, and a keyboard BT with 4 Duracell AAA batteries (now i changed the batteries with 4 Sanyo Eneloop rechargables)

    Some images of the Iconia

If you don't mind waiting for jellybean untill feb and paying another 100 dollars for docking stand, I would sugest sony xperia tablet s

This tablet last 12 hours easy probably will last even longer when jellybean update comes out.
It bassicly compete with the transformer tablet with keyboard dock which has its own battery.

This tablet has also its own universal remote.

Their some issues tough that won't be fixed untill jellybean is released half feb like some wifi issues causing tablet to freeze and shutdown once a day.

This new xperia tablet s is also verry thin and sturdy not made out off cheap plastic back is actualy made from aluminium.

This tablet btw run on nvidia tegra 4 with a 1.4 ghz quadcore and 1 cpu core being 1.2 ghz

Tablet also weights less then 1kg like 571gr
