Lg officially launch 21:9 aspect ratio monitor in Korea.

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/l...nitor-revealed

"LG has taken the wraps off a new monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio, the LG EA93.

The LG EA93 has a 29-inch, 2,560 x 1,080 IPS display surrounded by a thin bezel, and is capable of 100 per cent sRGB colour expression. However the headline feature LG has added is that wider-than-normal aspect ratio."

Price is around 633 USD when converted from Korean won.

Seems like a better option to me than the completely overpriced MD230 monitors which were individually priced at 500 and had just smaller bezels and a more regular resolution. I hope these become more mainstream so stuff like eyefinity or Nvidia surround become obsolete.

Anandtech did a review of a toshiba laptop a couple months back with a 21:9 aspect ratio screen. I think it was lower resolution than this though.

Microcenter sells a monitor with the same panel as that Dell for $400. Monoprice will have one soon too.

You can buy a Catleap Q270 on ebay for $300.

Yeah, thats the one. My only worry is that probably has around 16ms of input lag. I would like a little verification on that but I do know thats what just about every other Korean multi-input has. I'm not 100% sure about the Auria. The single inputs like the Catleap have around 2-3ms, its not noticeable.

The Dell has a fair amount of input lag too.

16ms of input lag might not sound like much but I know that is around what the Acer gd235hz has and thats one of the first things that I noticed with that display. It wasn't awful but it was noticeable.

A 21:9 monitor would be useful for lots of people but judging by the low price alone I don't see many pros buying this one. I would love a 60"+ 21:9 TV set, though...

Catleap's panel is graded A- so you should expect dead pixels.
That is the main reason why i don't buy one.

I assume its due to the 29" size of the monitor

Meh. I'd rather have more vertical pixels. My ancient 1600x1200 CRT is better for browsing the web, since most websites seem to be designed for "Portrait" viewing on tablets and smartphones these days.

If I get this I'll have to use it in 9:21 mode because 21:9 would be painful for everything except movies. Sometimes I fear these s are going to make monitors so wide my eyeballs are going to stretch out and burst.

Those are incredibly hard to find on ebay. The only reliable source at the moment is 120hz.net.

While on this topic, I really hope to find some Korean displays with this 21:9 panel in the coming months.

it is 21:9 instead of 16:9 or 16:10 (the ratio of a blu ray to not have black bars.) it would be ok except it dose not really work on desks, and they are charging you extra to lop off the top. the whole thing about work flow is illogical since why not just get that width in 16:9/10 and now you have even more space, and they are not solving a problem as monitors are already being sold at the max width of desks.

2 things, 1) you can order them checked and with a warranty for like $50, and 2) the dual link DVI only is directly driven so it dose 1440p only at whatever you send it for refresh, the ones on 120hz.net were the unlocked with the daughter board and that is hard to find but they are still out there.
