    What memory for Vishera?

    Hi!

    I assume Vishera does high IMC compared to Zambezi, what memory I should look at?

    8gb is fine for me, since I run Sloow 16gb ripjaw and stil have old Gskill Eco.

    cheers!

    Flanker, what volt and IC?

    I checked a little in TridentX thread.

    As for highest, for 2666 I could find only as CL11 version when I see some people running CL10. Btw I cannot find 2800 in Europe.

    Tridentx 2400 looks bargain, half price of 2666 Is it lottery picking good IC for Trident 2400 or it is binned? what IC exist for 2400? nothing else than samsung?

    Ballistix Tracer seem do well on low cas as cl 9 2400. Though I dont know how it does on higher cas because I'd like test IMC limit of Vishera.

    many questions

    For Trident-X it generally is this way:

    2800 C11 --> Hynix, double sided
    2666 C11 --> Hynix, double sided
    2600 C10 --> Samsung, double sided
    2400 C10 --> Can be Hynix or Samsung, single or double sided, double sided clocks better.

    Pretty much the same goes for Corsair Platinum, except their 2666 sticks have Samsung chips.

    I think Samsung is what you want on AMD as it can run tighter secondary and third timings than Hynix.

    All mentioned sticks have default Vdimm of 1.65V so pretty safe on your IMC.

    1.75V for FX is still nothing...I used in hyperpi 1.7V and 1.25V for CPU/NB (still relax voltage for FX IMC)

    Thanks!

    your thoughts about Crucial Tracer that does 2400 9-10-9-27 1t at v 1.64 (3770k) ic d9qms?

    what h***, I can purchase both tridentx and crucial mem

    flanker, what limit of mem and cpu/nb can FX take ?

    FYI - Test after test with real applications, (not misleading benches which exaggerate potential gains), shows very minute system performance gains by increasing DDR3 RAM frequency above 1600 MHz. in typical AMD and Intel desktop PCs. You can run real apps yourself to prove this is true. Thus paying a premium for faster RAM is pretty much wasted money as the RAM isn't a bottleneck in a typical desktop PC. 1866 MHz. RAM is pretty cost effective right now and that is the default frequency of the FX CPUs.

    One exception to the above is if you are using an APU. It will show a useful gain if you move from 1333 MHz. to 1866 MHz. as the GPU section of the APU is slightly bottlenecked at 1333 MHz.

    If you just like to OC and have the funds to spare, then go for it. If however you're actually looking for a tangible performance gain, (i.e. something that you can actually see or feel when you use your PC), the money you would spend on higher frequency RAM would be better spent on a faster CPU or GPU.

    Tomasis: depends on quality of chip, average could be 2400-2550 MHz for DRAM clocks, CPU/Nb must be the same or higher as DRAM clocks. Max limitation is again on the chip, between 2500-2750 MHz at CpU/Nb.

    flanker, sorry i forgot to add "volt" .. i mean voltages that 24/7 air cooling can tolerate. it will be interesting to see how far Vishera pushes for IMC limits :P
