Yeah, I'd like to see some pictures as well. Also contact Koolance with those pictures.

Definitely not normal. I have four QDC's and none of mine have flaked like that after years of use.

Is that copper deposited on the silver coil wrapped around a part of the reservoir?

Not surprised at all..some time ago i bought some EK products and the barbs came in a plastic bag and on the bottom of the bag lots of small pieces of nickel, so i told them and they say it was impossible but well i shoot some pics and it was very clear

so if it goes out easy not even built i can imagine that inside the loop they will

happened the same with other brands, from that time till now i use only Bistpower True Silver amazing barbs

    Cheers and good luck

Yeah, I'm not so sure that it's the QDC's flaking but rather copper being deposited on them and the res tube. I remember utnorris had something similar happen to his res tube and it did come off by wiping/scraping it. If you have nickel flakes, it's likely either EK or bitspower that is causing that mess. What else was in the loop?

this loop had 2 eK 580gtx acetel/copper blocks the serial link attachment and ek 140.3 rad the silver coil & the valve its wraped round had very dark residue on it and that pipe above has gone dark cant be cleaned. i had no idea this had happened as the res had blue leds on both sides you could not tell anything was wrong. i shall try scraping the qdcs tnoite to see what happens

Meh, everyone hates on EK nickel to but to be totally blunt EVERY brand of fitting I have had (Swiftech, EK, Dtek, Bitspower) have all had the nickel come off in a few spots somewhere.

If I could get non-plated barbs I'd do that in a heartbeat.

also thanks for the pointer on utnorris. and id rather not scrap it specialy the the female fitting. couldnt i just dunk them in vinigar and give them a good wipre down?

also you cant see it in the pic but the fittings on P2 both in and out arnt shut properly

Koolance addressed the issue of some QDCs not sealing properly, wrong O-rings if I remember correctly. If you contact them I believe they will replace them.

well it might not be flaking, the pipe from the res i put in a plastic cup of diluted vinigar we get at work today during my lunch break and it all wiped off. as for the the qdcs is wiped them with tissues and nothing but a my friend gave them a firm rub and bits kinda rubbed off a little cant get them any more cleaner. flushed the rad and it was clean still got to take the blocks apart to see if they are clean inside or not.

In an industrial setting (I am in one), we see this but WC loops are different.

Metals, no matter the type (kinda) have an affinity for each other. Water is a great dissolver, going round and round in a WC loop forever. Molecules of the metals break loose and deposit where the science says they should. It's material science. I don't know a lot but the basics and 5 years watercooling, but yep, you seem to be fine.

Maybe next time dig deeper and see what is up before, thanks for the update, wait till you see the inside of your blocks. Material science and the power of H2O..

both look the same i was prepared for it looking tarnished but near the bottom just below the wave lines there is some corrosion :/

also got a reply from koolance last week, they said distilled water + killcoil is not recomended with the res and it would only cover the bio side and did not offer any protection from corrosion.
and recomended thier own liquid. id buy it but i already got a 5l tub of distilled water few days before i got the email from koolance. so what additives would you peeps recomend? primochill utopia?

I still think silver in ppl's loops is the problem with people experiencing these kinda problems with tubing going all white on the inside and nickle flasking

Just run coolant and see what happens or throw in some liquid utopia

Block looks perfectly normal. It's what water does to stuff.

Dump the distilled and run fancy liquids.

And read up on things like this:

    My experience says otherwise.

I used distilled water AND silver coil. My loop still cleanly: no cloudly tubing, no flaking nickel in the blocks and fittings or other nasty things in whole loop.
