Apple is trying to move their Nand needs to Elpida and Hynix so it should not change many thing for that.. but the problem stay for the SOC, as there's simply no other fundries production who can supply fully the demand. ( TSMC, it seems not, Global Fundries, Toshiba and other use many production lines from Samsung Fundries, they have their fundry in common for the 28nm and 32nm .... Intel? i believe they have allready their capacity nearly up to the maximum .) ..

On other parts.. I ask me if, Samsung cant sell product in USA, if they cant just finally stop sell their FRAND licences ... and why not just stop the production of the next SOC for Apple ( lets imagine they loose the production of ARM CPU, and lost 3 Billions of dollars.. does Samsung product for 3 billions of dollars of SOC for Apple / year ? ( without counting the possible interdiction of sell the SG2, SG3, and Galaxy Tab in USA ).. I mean, does it will cost more for Samsung on the end to stop the Apple Soc production ? vs what Apple make them loose ?

Lets imagine as said the article, Apple try to push Samsung of the smartphone, mobile devices market.. i Know samsung will just stop sell their licence Frand .. why will you they continue? Samsung is enough solid, they are not only Samsung electronics. ( even if in their electronics segment, they do most of their money with smartphone and mobile devices . )


Samsung is partner or in consortium, offtly co fondator of many group of the industries of semi conductors, and the list of their partner in thoses consortium is not exhaustive, Global Fundries, Texas Instruments, STMicro Electronics, Toshiba (only for the 28 and 32nm HKMG )...

Apple could move to Qualcomm, but Qualcomm have allready all the pain to got enough production for their proper Soc ( TSMC and the S4 lately was enough speaking for it )

However, one glimmer of hope for Samsung was that the jury also ruled in favor of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1, which was banned June 26 by Koh for infringing on Apple patents. The jury decided that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 did not violate these patents afterall.

There's the possibility in USA to change the court LAW, if i was Samsung i will ask to do it... But the big problem on USA, it is hard to find the right place if you are not an US company. Federal Law court is too much subject on lobbies, and i doubt they want to make judge the case in Texas.

Because the statement was to raise prices for Apple. I dont think its legal to raise prices for a single company. It would have to be done across the board for that product to oem.

It is not illegal in the case of Nand flash... because the price are negociate between each company, they dont sell the chips at x $ for all.. there's a negociation who is made between both company.
If Apple is not happy they can go buy in other place ( Samsung is leader by a big margin in the Nand production, but they are not the only one ) .. And we know Apple will certainly allready take their chips to Elpida and Hynix, the problem is Samsung have a so large capacity of production they can go really low on the price, they have the last process technology available in extremely high density of production.

if it makes u feel better, canada is how only a nation of death too, we export uranium 248, we export areospace we export asbestos and won't take it back, we use 80% of grains to make 20% of the food ,dairy to throw out 90% of it. we export our green bin material to china at our costs so they can burn in their garbage burn plants to give us the emissions, we have no social security and only an unsigned corp bill of volentary war time taxation only , and that goes to the un for war use only, while our nation provides $0 to welfare no disability and actually steals 1/2 to 3/4rds of its residents to subsides minimum wage. feel better? the doctors for medicate people with a voice in the country. the parts force not say in the homes
