Question Audio system repair (creating a new connector)

Hi, I want to repair some old speakers(Logitech Z-560) that have lasted a long time by creating a new connection where the sub connects to the control center. Currently the wires are just soldiered on and wrapped in electrical tape since my old roommate broke a few of the pins on the connector. I was going to use a CAT-5/Ethernet connection but realized I have too many wires for that, 10 total and CAT-5 is only 8. Does anyone have any suggestions for something cheap and easy to use maybe a VGA connector?

Here is what is looks like right now:

This sort of cable will most likley be found at a electrician wholesale outlet, they have all sorts of different cables for many types of jobs. Cat 5 cable was actually a good idea, iv used them for audio long runs before as well. maybe just use another separate cat5 and insulate both together with a larger rubber insulator.
