Thinking of getting some half decent IEMs....

    As above,
I'm changing my sound setup, I currently have a pair of DT770 pros and SOLO6C speakers hooked up to my Xonar Essence ST soundcard.
However since I'm thinking of downsizing to mitx, I'm looking at getting an external solution, and was told about the E7/E9 combo from Fiio, which is what I'm going for.
Got the E7, now just looking for an E9.

Since I've got the E7, I'm half tempted to put it to use while I'm out and about by getting some half decent headphones/IEMs.

Any recommendations? Looking in the sub 100usd category really (am in the UK though)

Kramer mod some JVC HAFX35s to your liking and replace the tips with comply or your favorite...
They sound like without modding (very muddy and bass heavy) however I now prefer the sound signature to my friend's ATH-M50s. Wonderful throw around, take bike riding, jogging disposable IEMs.

My friend bought the similar 30s and they sounded like absolute , highs rolled off and bass very muddy and overwhelming just like every other sub $50+ IEM.

IMO, stretch your budget a bit and get Vsonic GR07. About $130 new on eBay, $90-100 used on Head Fi/audio forums. They will sound better in most genres than your DT770's if you find a good tip that gets a good seal for you.

As far as a good sub $100 pair of headphones, my favorite have been a pair of Sennheiser HD280Pro's I got for X-mas 6 years ago. That being said, there are some nice Grado's as well as AKG's for under $100. The best thing to do would be to try them out and see how you like them at a B&M store. I like the technical sound of the HD280's, but some people find it way too clinical and not warm enough.

As far as IEM"s, the only pair I really liked the sound on were Ultimate Ear Superfi.3's. It looks like they no longer make those though. The Superfi.5's are $150-200, but they might be worth it if you really want to go the IEM route. The Etymotic HF-5 are supposed to be nice.
