OCZ Vector: The First True Indilinx Based SSD (Barefoot 3) from OCZ

I just saw the outcome of a year long effort from both the Indilinx and the PLX teams at OCZ: the Vector SSD (pictured above). Unlike the Octane and Vertex 4 drives, the Barefoot 3 controller here uses OCZ's own IP and isn't licensed from Marvell.

Although the NAND packages are screened with the OCZ logo, you're looking at Micron MLC NAND on this particular board....

I wouldn't be surprised if this was fast. the new marvell chip in plextor m5 pro is not impressing, but the new Link A Media Devices (LAMD) is. this could be fast too.

but you just know from ocz's history that it won't work well. it will be a buggy mess. don't bet on ocz until they prove themselves hard for a long time.

Isn't OCZ "problem" rate the same as any other drive, but only higher (by ratio) due to sales?

^ sorry buddy, but if you expect people to know 'statistics,' your faith in humanity is too great. i use the term 'statistics' loosely; percentages is probably more accurate.

most of the [valid] complaints have to do with customer relations. the hardware problems disappeared long, long ago*. I also use a vertex 3 and agility 3 as my daily drivers without problems of any sort.

*except apparently for those with very specific mobo configs

since we know quantum. maybe its all the bashing of companies manifesting the failures.

i for one think this will be exactly as the first press release told me. so i can have a fantastic new ssd. worth the upgrade. game changing.

if you're complaining about the past of ssd's i have one question. is the SSD you have now. working great. if so then SSD's are working great for you right now. end of story.
