If you use This, is it still a "Windows 8" screenshot?

i really have no idea what's going on with microsoft lately.

    1. windows 8 with crappy metro ui (srsly, metro ui is horrendous)
    2. new hideous company logo
    3. obviously narrow minded behaviour in the legal and pr department

so many bad decisions at once, it's not even funny lol. what are you doing ms?

this is sort of like what NBC did with all that free publicity from Louis CK on their own youtube channel -- take it down, take it down!

MS bio rhythm is working as expected ... Win XP (up) ... Win Vista (down) ... Win 7 (up) ... Win 8 (down) ... Win 9 (up) ....

Just be patience, cause Win 9 will take a while to surface, and meanwhile skip Win 8 like most people did for Vista.

Well, we all knew Win 8 would blow anyway its the standard template for MS, make a good OS, then make a crap OS, make a good OS, then make another crap OS.. repeat to infinity. If MS want to troll like this, I say a bunch of us get together, sign up for accounts on the MS forum and make threads with as many links as possible with detailed info about why Win 8 blows, but so the links fall through the MS cracks, at least temporarily, make the name of the threads something like "Win 8 is great, and this is why!" Then lots of people considering Win 8 will click to see those threads, then start reading the links and find out the gritty truth.

See MS? We can be underhanded too, and theres more of us than there is of you. If anyone wants to see Win 8 screenshots BEHOLD! and just to add a little irony *bing!* BEHOLD!

I've been trying to move to Visual Studio 2012. It shares the new metro UI look and is very tough to use. The UI is almost entirely monochromatic. Sure, it's neat and cool looking, but it's very difficult to find anything with virtually no chromatic contrast on the screen.

I can't imagine tolerating it if my entire OS was like that.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

windows 8 isn't that bad besides the whole metro thing, i see why there doing it though for tablets.

its starts/shutsdown wicked fast, sad face blue screens , the transfer file mb/s graph is kinda cool, and all the graphic acceleration is nice.

i will be using it because i got a cheap upgrade coupon $14.99, but not on my main machine. i can see enterprise/business ting a brick over metro though

    I liked WinME...
It wouldn't crash anymore once you removed the defaults from Soft.../RUN keys in the registry.

Win8 I can't use without it being modded (Winme only needed a simple tweak, this needs outright modded).
After this dcma crap I figure might as well tell everyone I run across not to use it.

Looks like crap, runs like crap, I guess it is crap :|.
    Great job PR

i will use win8 cause its made perfectly for windows surface. i'll buy a $199 windows rt surface tablet. just to cost microsoft money. as they play catch up on the tablet market.
i was confused at first. until i saw the microsoft surface tablet video. now everything is making perfect sense. 100 million tablets sold in the last year. and 99% were not running windows most likely.
and once windows 8 is actually able to install on my computer, without crashing at the beginning of setup, i'll use that too. just to get my amd performing better. tweaking away start panel.
I actually like the idea having no start button, i am only using the taskbar icons lately anyway.
and behind the star panel. its begging to look a lot like osx and all will look the same (android, ubuntu, osx, windows)

i am gonna give microsoft the benefit of the doubt on this one. it is likely a dmca bot, whos intent was likely to protect customers from altered versions of windows 8 on torrents sites, but was programmed too sensitive. maybe after the weekend all is sorted.

it must suck, really bad if they have to have DCMA on the RTM screenshots.

I don't know about you guys, but I used win8 Pro RTM for one week, and I really like it, the metro ui is amazing, multi of options with just one click, and I can switch to desktop interface with only one click.
I used to use Firefox, but now I like more the IE10 with the new improvement.

Over all I'm really happy with win8 and never go pack to win7

the same as before, i dont really understand all the hate. i like metro, but i refuse to run in admin approval mode just to use the metro apps. disable admin approval mode, remove the metro tiles, and you have better startmenu to boot (well a couple of things are missing like jumplists and stuff).

I get it now. Its not Windows 8 that is bad - people are using it on the wrong device. Windows 8 for Desktops/Notebooks was not needed, its Microsoft trying to make some easy money out of unwary folks.

    Slightly OT,

But can any of you with Windows 8 confirm; Are you able to play your xbox games (off the disc) in windows 8?
I heard this was a feature of win8....but nobody seems to mention it anymore.
