Question Corsair Force GT vs Samsung 830

    Hi,

I currently have 2 Corsair Force GT 60GB in RAID-0.

AFter a few games are installed space becomes tight, so I decided it is time for up the size of my ssd's to 120/128GB each.

I am finding it very hard to get solid answers on what's the fastest drive to get as I am told for real world performance there is allot more to it than just basic advertised read/write speeds.

So I have seen the Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD and the Samsung 830 128GB and ofc looked at the Corsair Force GT 120GB and also even the Vertex 4 from OCZ

I like instantaneous responsiveness from OS operation and FAST load times of the OS and apps and games, so what should I buy?

    Many thanks.

I am going to take a shot in the dark and guess that the basic read write speeds are of less importance to me then the lesser known statistics, due to the fact with raid-0 the basic read/write will be fast anyway, thats a shot in the dark I really don't know what I am talking about.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Here is a recent, comprehensive comparison review of many 128GB SSDs:

Not surprisingly, the Plextor M3P comes out on top.

Well, the Samsung 830 uses its own controller and would be my choice. Don't get caught up in the performance "numbers game", reliability, especially in a RAID array, is more important. You will not be able to notice the load time differences between a 700 or 900 mb/s read. Every Sandforce controller drive from every maker has had some kind of problem.

Yup, I was wrong, it uses the Marvel controller. Their original firmware had the problem and I read that there is a fix out for it.

In SSDs I really do not get why people are sweating over which drive is fastest, they are typically tiny differences. I go for reliability over performance since an SSD is going to be plenty fast and any shape or form especially the newer ones.

Great prices Here for SSDs. Prices have came down significantly. Now you can get 180GB Sata 3 Solid state drive for close to $100 and 128gb or 120gb version are going for $69.

All the new SSDs are good the performance difference is small to nothing. Samsung does use in house controller, well others use Sandforce, etc.

If i have to choose between Samsung 830 series vs Ocz Agility series vs Kingston 3K or 5K. I would go with better price point at the time i am in the market for SSD, because they all are very good SSDs.

    neither

get crucial m4 and win :P

cheap and mosst reliable drive now, intel is 2nd place now :P

I've had maybe 15 ssd drives

sata 2 and sata 3 won't make a difference in real work stuff i.e you won't notice a difference.
