    Regarding i7 3930k voltage

    Hello there,
I've finished my rig recently with i7 3930k. Since I couldn't fined the appropriate Sabertooth x79 owners thread, I'll have to ask in this one ( aand probably this will be yet another same type of topic everyone discussed a million times). I've OCed it currently to 4.7ghz

    1. Is 1.4v safe for 24/7 use ? CPU idles at 0.85v, under gaming its around 1.37-1.38, under full load it goes into 1.39 ( 1.388) to 1.402 and fluctuates between. Temps under full load : usually 76-78 on cores. Highest I've seen was 81c on two cores yesterday, but that was in a room that had ambient of 30c.
    2. Any super guide on Sabertooth x79 OCing, since it's not as popular mobo as RIVE, it seems there are less info about it, but I couldn't resist a 150$ less pricetag for similar performance? I've seen some people claim to lower the vcore by upping the bus and lowering the multi, but is there a specific trick to it ? My system don't seem to like the 125 setting at all, to the point of self-resarting right away.

    Thank you

I would have no problem running that 24/7.

Intel lists .8 to 1.52 as Vcore range. I've the RIVE so comparisons aren't exactly the same, but I played with BCLK/Multi trying to find lowest voltage and CPU temp for a 4.9GHz OC (see cooling in sig). I kept thinking I could find a "sweet spot" at x BCLK and x Multi but never did and temps were about the same no matter the combinations. I finally just used the Multi and Vcore. I was stable at 4.9GHZ @ 1.42 Vcore all six cores and Hyper threading on, all other settings at Auto or the default. Every .1GHz after 4.3 is tough and generates heat non-linearly.
I would not be comfortable with your OC 24/7. For me 4.3GHz @ 1.35 Vcore keeps me under 70C, ~68C Prime 95 Blend and all games. Intel recommends 67.8C. See page 85 for voltages: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/...datasheet.html

If you are not comfortable with your OC, back it down 100mhz decrease vcore a hair and call it a day. I would still feel safe running your settings 24/7 but its not my hardware, so in the end its up to you.
    Intels spec for the 3930k.

Thx for the specs. So I'm withint the operational limits then huh. Well 1.4 pops up only in OCCT and Prime, 1.37 is what I get in photoshop and games. I suppose I'll keep it that way then.

    P.S. Tcase is 66.8 for SB-e, and Tjmax is 91 ( or 85 ?) ? Is that correct ?

I'm running the rig with custom loop atm EX360 with push-pull fans + Koolance 140mm slim in push-pull + RX120 in pull, the loop is for CPU + three 7970s. Lol prly will end up getting a bigger case to add as second pump and my RX360 that is now on the shelf ( Sabertooth's VRMs are too tall, and RX wouldn't fit on the top of HAFx when the mobo is mounted)

Have both Sabertooth and RE4F, both run fairly similar.

For mem and other tweaks follow the other asus threads.

For more on the Sabertooth, search for the posts of Leeghoofd, here and on HWbot. He has done some amazing things with it.
