whadup werwerdus!!! ... sounds like a hella good time to me

... back to my adventures in running 2 PAOLA WUs at a time... I have not only screwed my RAC but I just (for the second time in a 3 days) obtained a "bad app_info" message and I was like WTF (but I like WWs reason better). Then the next message says I reached my quota of 18 WUs in a day which means I won't get any more until tomorrow. I'm giving up this venture and going back to crunching 1 at a time :sad_panda:

Otis probably has this right on ... makes way more sense than my nonsense ramblings. Think I'll try to stop running my mouth for a bit

Since when do I know what I'm talking about?!?! You're the expert in GPUGrid - go check the getting started thread. (Sure, I wrote the basic guide but all that says is I can follow directions. If google didn't provide the answer I always refered people to you. )

I got my 660 Ti cards installed yesterday. One in each of my secondary rigs (see my sig). I had to leave home for work at 1:30pm and the cards promptly arrived at 1:05pm I managed to install the cards, reboot, realize I had to reinstall the driver (I had already installed the proper driver before they arrived, but it wasn't recognizing the new cards), and reboot a couple more times, get GPUGrid connecting properly, receive a couple PAOLA work units which I promptly aborted, and then download 2 NATHAN work units, install MSI Afterburner, and verify smooth operation, all in time to leave for work at 1:30pm!

Problem is that the i3 system is an EVGA P55 Micro motherboard and it only supports PCIe 2.0 x8. Snow Crash, or anybody, do you think I would get more throughput with both cards on the i7 system on the UD3R-x58 motherboard? AFAIK they would both run at PCIe 2.0 x16, plus the benefit of having dual channel system ram (the P55 only has single channel ram currently).

I will probably let them run for a few days with one in each system and see how they are doing compared to each other. Also I put one of the GT 240 cards that I was previously using onto Donate@Home now but it seems the project may be out of work

Expect to see some competition in the GPUGrid PIE race tonight! Too bad I had multiple PAOLA workunits on my main rig today

Na, I don't think the PCIe 2 x8 will impact it... the single channel RAM would have more of an effect, and I doubt even that will be noticeable, but let us know!

I think someone tested that on GPUGrid and estimated a 3-5% increase on x16 over x8

I can see I'm in trouble, I think I just fried a 480, and the machine I moved last night doesn't seem to be reporting in.
