What i need to: HTPC sound to Blueray 7.1

Trying to see what I need to send my sound through a samsung 7.1 blueray sound system before buying it.

I have a soundblaster XFi sound card and the connections are smaller than normal speaker connections so I'm trying to see how to go from the sound card to blueray system for sound

    heres the sound system: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882676271

    Thanks for your time!!!

i would go hdmi, it has 2 hdmi in for pass through. TOSlink (optical) and rca spdif only do 5.1 but they would also work (there is no reason for 7.1 over 5.1). there is no need to go from that creative card for digital out ether.

Spif will not do 7.1. That boxed system is already ready to do 7.1, so there's nothing that is required of you. To be honest, if you are really going to spend 700 dollars on a surround system, at least part it out, at that price you can do a lot better than boxed system I think.

No sir, if any HTIB is recommended it would be something like the Energy Take 5. Usually people say to start with a nice 2.0 system and build from there. Polk and Pioneer have had good budget offerings.
Then save up for a good sub, Velodyne makes some nice budget ones but people will tell you to save at least $300 and check out the online boutique vendors like HSU, SVS, Outlaw, Epik, etc.

There's a company called Home Theater Direct that gives you 30 day trials of their speakers if you want to check them out. I didn't get the chance, they're only online so the quality should be better than the stuff you'll find at Best Buy for the same prices.

I also hope you don't have a S.O. who wants thin speakers, i'm told you have to spend much more money to get decent ones since it's so much easier to produce sound with bigger enclosures.
