is the stock liquid cooling on the maximus V formula viable or needed? it dose not look safe to me since you cannot pull it without the MB, but it says that it is all copper and nickle so other than leaks it should be good right? and dose that PWM need liquid?

    thx.

If you're on air or water it's not needed, since you won't be able to overclock the CPU to regions where the VRM will get very hot anyway. Also, the whole thing seems to be very restrictive, the inner diameter of that copper tube seems to be something 3/16" - I wouldn't want to put something like that in my loop. Not too mention that I don't need VRMs heating up my water when they can be air cooled directly.

i have liquid, i just won the board from the rog contest on the forum. it also dose not look to restrictive as the bend in the heatsink looks smooth, the other full cover blocks looks more restrictive. dose anyone have the board or have tried it?

Personally I would go aftermarket once their available (as a Striker II user I could never trust ASUS to do a decent job ever again).

The VRM's on the P67/Z68/Z77 series MB's have not "truly" needed any cooling beyond air for overclocking. That being said, it's on the board and it probably won't hurt to use it. Granted, it's probably a little more restrictive than we usually like, but the reality is that we do not need a lot of flow today like we use to so to the improvements in blocks. My system sits at around .56Gpm and increasing it to 1Gpm has little to no affect on temps. I was thinking of picking up this board due to the features and the onboard water cooling was just an added benefit in my opinion.
