    Gigabyte A75M-D2H USB 3.0 probs

I was moving some files using a USB 3 flash drive today to this board and noticed it seemed pretty slow...
After some testing using HD Tune the flash drive actually runs a little slower (barely) on the USB 3 ports than it does on the USB 2 ports.
This is really odd considering this drive runs over 2x faster on my Asus board (using the USB 3 port).

I've checked GBT's website and there are no specific drivers for the ports.
They run off the SB so I reinstalled the chipset drivers from the mobo disk, updated to Cat 12.6 and checked windows for updates. Still no improvement...

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and figured out how to fix it.
BTW: I also Googled for fixes and came up blank as well.

If there are four USB ports, then they are from the Hudson-D3 FCH.

...so here is the 12.6 chipset driver package: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/12-6_vis...7_32-64_sb.exe

Thanks for the effort Beep, but like I said, I knew the ports where on the A75 SB, and I had already updated to the Cat 12.6 drivers...
Reguardless, I tried updating again using your link. Still didn't help...

I'm really starting to think it may be a problem with the F6a bios but's it's been pretty darn stable and I'm not quite ready to flash back yet.

Speeds on the CVF are ~66mbs using USB3 (flash drive), on this Llano board they are ~30mbs (USB3) and ~32mbs on the USB2 port....

    Something just isn't quite right...

On Crosshair V Formula however the USB3 is provided by the ASMedia controller on board...

    Maybe AMD's drivers don't work.

Well... I dug alot deeper into the driver disk that came with the board and found a USB3 driver in the chipset folder.
It installed something called "Renesa (?)" USB3 driver that wasn't shown on the Auto Run option...

After a reboot, it didn't help either.
I'm really glad this board only cost me $40, but it only reinforces my dislike of Gigabyte boards (if thats possible!).
You'd think when a board has USB3 ports they'd actually offer better speeds, I guess not when it's a GBT board...

I even flashed back to the F5 bios (F6a was a 10 month old beta) and nothing I've done has made the USB3 port work at rated speeds (or for that matter better the the 2.0 ports).
Once agian, they've given up on support for boards that weren't big sellers...

Just to be fair, this FM1 board offers nice features, and power comsumption is really good, but it doesn't live up to it's specs...

I realize USB3 isn't a standard yet, but that was one of the reasons I bought this board.

    USB3 is certainly a standard...
It is only being held back by thunderbolt...and a plethora of crappy Apple products.z

    Have you tried contacting gigabyte?

    Yeah... Poor choice of words.
Guess I just thought it would be a little more popular by now, the speeds are actually decent compared to 2.0...

I sent a message to GBT support tonight, since I'm out of ideas to get it working properly.
If I figure it out I'll post the solution in case anyone else has the same problem...

I think it's pretty popular. Maybe not by the mainstream yet but almost every new motherboard and PC coming out now has USB3.0 support.

The big problem is the intel + Apple pushing thunderbolt.

After alot more hair/card pulling I found the problem...

Seems if the Bclk is set to anything >100 the USB3 ports slow way down (below USB2 even)!
I was only running it @ 112, didn't really expect it to be the culprit, but I feel kinda dumb now that I didn't do that first...

Anyway, the flash drive now runs ~69mb/s on the board which is a little faster than it does on the C5F (~67mb/s).

Kinda sucks that I had to lower my OC but it's not really a performance rig anyway and moving large files over wireless is too slow.
