    2x Diff SSD

    Can you run a OCZ Agility 3 240gb and a Crucial M4 256gb SSD together in Raid0??

Sure you can run em together...not sure what to expect performance wise as they are 2 totally different type controllers that handle incompressible data in totally opposite ways. Now I'm curious...:P

I have been thinking about something similar as I have a Vertex 4 128gb and an unused Vertex 2 120gb - they are different controllers and SATA2 / 3......... ??

PS - If I was to try it, what is the best backup software to move a Windows 7 OS boot partition from single to RAID SSD's ?

Depending on your workload, you either get the worst characteristics of both SSDs or an average between the two.

remember that if you RAID0 them it takes the lower capacity in your case 240 each you loose some space but nothing important

for ex if you raid0 and 80 and 120 result is 160 of space

    cheers !

or you can leave the crucial for the OS ans some apps and run RAID0 on the other 2

either way i would try to raid the 3 perfomance would be nice 3 RAID0 is awesome as theres NO impediment to do it

If you put them in RAID the speed will be constrained to multiples of the speed of the slowest member of the RAID.

So you will basically get the speed of the agility times two.

that is when fresh though! This being SSDs we have to remember the steady state performance. Even though not as critical in consumer apps, it is very important, even moreso when used in RAID, which has no TRIM (unless possibly under a very certain set of circumstances).

That agility 4 is going to be terrible in steady state. it is a value ssd for a reason. i think yo9u are headed in the right direction with going with the M4s, and use the Agility for games or data storage or something.
