It's still advertised as a feature and yet nerfed at every step. No cables included - and considering it's 2x6 pins to control not only VGA core volts but also RAM and PLL, it's a PITA that to find them for 2 cards. It also sucks that they have only 2 VGA hotwire ports and yet this is a 4x sli/crossfire capable mobo.

Got the Extreme board a few days ago, it is extremely good at clocking the memory. Only tested it for 32m so far, for the 5ghz challenge thread.

Next time try and figure out what people talking about before butting in with nonsensical comments.

Hey anzial my board came with thermal probes. I didn't check for VGA hotwire cables cause I don't need em and never used em. Might want to call Asus.

I flashed it and it seems to work. Can't report anything else, since I was in the middle of stability testing anyway, so not sure if I was stable before or not.

    Hello guys,

    Question about Maximus V Extreme.
If I put two graphic cards into slots 2 and 4 they will run at x16 both?

    These two:

^ I believe the top 2 red slots are your x16 slots, you will be running x16 and x8 if you use the slots you circled. Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Excuse me if i'm wrong, but my understanding is the Extreme doesn't support dual slots running at 16x. It is 8x 16x 8x 8x only. At least that is what I have read. Only the premium board does dual 16x lanes.

i think that it was split up so you can run native 8x8 on the 1st and 4th slot, but you can run 4 cards still if for benching. i also do not see why you would want the pci-e controller they have never been shown to help, and when people claim to they are showing a faster board with better timings and the controller vs a slower board without out. the r3e solved this, the debate is over.

I don't think it makes much if any difference unless you have 3-4 cards running. 2 cards shouldn't need 16x.

Sorry for labouring the point but which "premium board" is that?

Been out of the loop for a while and was of the understanding that only X79 mbds had dual 16x lanes.
    Sig always changing .

    These two:
First Slot >>>> will 16x for Single card and always 8x for Multi Cards (Native by CPU)

Second Slot >> will always 16x for single/dual/triple card (by PLX)

Third Slot >>>> will always 8x for single or multi cards (Native by CPU)

Fourth Slot >>> will always 8x for single or multi cards (by PLX)

    So....

if install cards to 1st and 2nd slot on SLI/CF it will running at 8x + 16x

if install cards to 1st and 3rd slot on SLI/CF it will running at 8x + 8x <<< better performance because it native

    That's bad.
I can't find matching me new mobo from Asus with requested PCI-E lanes assignment...

Just EVGA Z77 FTW match my request...
Or maybe you guys knows any mobo (Z77 or X79) with which using slots 2 and 4 or 3 and 5 with x16 bandwidth?

Maybe this board will answer for you

    P8Z77-V PREMIUM >> http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Int...8Z77V_PREMIUM/

i can confirm for this board it will can running 16x + 16x for 1st and 3rd slot

btw. I think that actually it is not necessary for 16x + 16x because however CPU will have max bandwidth for Graphic pci-express only 16 lane
but if looking to X79 mobo it have more choice for you because CPU have bandwidth for GFX 32 lane

So the Formula comes with the SupremeFX IV, but I cannot find any SupremeFX software like the older ROG boards, just the Realtek driver. Am I missing something?

Supreme FX IV is the realtek alc898 codec with a metallic shield to reduce interference. So it uses the Realtek Audio Driver. I think the software for it is now in the ASUS AI Suite II package

Yes, C-Media needed lots of time to code drivers and software, so the development time did not fit inline with the product launch. A lot of these companies are far smaller than you think. While lots of people roll their eyes at Realtek, they generally need a lot less time than everyone else to get a driver up and running.
