No flash to the latest BIOS again. Use a FAT32 formatted drive in the USB flash slot, name the file to M5G.CAP (for the Gene) and it will flash after you hold in the button for 3 secs.

If it is still code 55 on those slots and no damaged or bent CPU pins, then possibly some BGA socket damage (excessive calmping pressure used at some point can cause this) or trace pin damage to memory slots. Only other thing, I had something like this was when too much Vaseline was used in the memory slots for sub-zero. Quick going over with the hair dryer and brush sorted it, though.

EDIT - with first CPU can boot again with single stick only...

    didn't help in my case

Suspecting bad memory controlers on CPUs - but not sure yet.
try in first red slot closest to cpu, it seems the board when cmos is cleared defaults everything but the memory frequency so probably trying to boot 2400 1.5v causing the 55 code.

He said he tried what I wrote in this post:

Sounds like his issue is something else...

Will try the FAT32 formatted drive!

The board is brand new from the egg - been having this issue starting with first boot. No Vaseline etc. - I am just using normal air cooling. SLow mode switch was set to "ON" out fo the box - is this the default position?

Board came with 0402 firmware. I tried 3 different sets of memory ( Samsung, PSC and Hynix )

Don't think it is a memory multi - unless it came from the egg "pre-tested"

it was " ON " for me also ,when I opened my MVF box , I turned it off before the install.
    - all went fine except the spd XMP read out's in bios on the 2 x 4 gb tridents X 2400 [f3-2400c10d-8gtx] one reads 2401 other 2399 ,cpu-Z reads the last 2 spd's as [XMP 2289-1143 mhz] [XMP 2000-1000 mhz] ,will look into it closer when I get around to the ram settings ,working on the cpu\win7 reinstall for now.

I have booted the first time with it "on". Maybe that is the root cause of my issues?

    @ Raja

    - Just re-flashed the BIOS to 0502 and on the first post - I put 1 memory stick in Red slot closest to CPU ( like Splave suggested - TY!) and this time I posted properly!!!

Before I wasn't able to use either of the first two slots. However with both sticks in back to 55

    - Reflashed the BIOS a second time - this time put 2 Memory slots in for first post - and was able to make it into BIOS! However about rebooting went back to 55...

Ok I have managed now to consistently boot with both channels as soon as I reset Bios. With any changes sometimes I post - sometimes I lock up - or get stuck at post code d0 and 55

things are getting better - all a bit confusing - seems random

Tried all the above with same results. No way I can get past code 55 with two sticks.
I,m using the Trident 2666 set to 11-13-13-35-2 @ 1.66v. Unfortunately I don't have another cpu to test. The one I have was half way decent and I never pushed the voltage past 1.45v
I can POST with one stick in either of the red dimm slots. As I said the board is brand new. Slow mode came in off position.

Can you load the XMP profile for the modules and see if this still happens? Or use the memory preset for the ICs on the modules, leave memory frequency low and see if it still has a tendency to show 55.

Let me know what modules you are using too please.

If it's still playing up we will RMA it and check out what's going on.

When I first tried it was a no go with XMP.

Let me try to give you the sequence of events with the memory modules used:

1.) New out of the box I installed:
    3770k
    G.SKILL Trident X F3-2400C10D-16GTXD (2x8GB)
    1x 64GB SSD ( black sata port )
1xUSB stick ( for OS install)
    mouse / keyboard
    PSU Corsair HX1000

Was only able to boot with single stick in slot #3

    2.) Switched to Patriot Viper X - PX736G2000ELK 2x2GB
    then tried Generic Samsung HC9

Same issue on boot on memory slot #3

3.) changed to different BIOS versions - no go. However when attempting to update bios via USB flash port - I was forgetting to rename bios' to M5F.cab and borked those flashes. Was using bios flash utility

Same issue with different BIOS = boot only on slot #3

4.) flashed via flash port - properly with M5F re-named bios file + first boot after re-flash with 2 modules install in Red slots ( if using only 1 dimm installed on first boot I would be stuck only able to use one module )

Working now "OK" with dual channels. However issues with restart - will often hang at 55. If I restart it will remain at 55. However when letting system sit with PSU off for about 5 minutes I can post without getting stuck at 55.

I am back to step 1....trying to get 2x8GB to post - but again always 55. Just tried tran/rec slews @ 4 and duty sense @ 29 - unfortunately doesn't appear to help.

Try set xmp with only change duty sense @ 29 and MRC F boot disabled Mike.

Testing this 2800 12-14-14 kit to boot @ xmp, but it always stuck @ 55 or sometimes blue screen.

Is the IGP Offset Voltage function displayed below CPU Vcore in the AI Tweaker menu? If it is, disable the IGP manually in the Advanced>System Agent menu. If the IGP happens to come on, it messes up memory stability.

Today I had time to go visit my friend Bei Fei in Dallas. We tried his 3570 in my M5E and it worked like a charm. No 55 code what so ever.
After our sucess with his cpu I had decided to go to MicroCenter and buy myself another one. Bei Fei suggested we try my chip again. This time my chip and the board worked fine together. I had cleaned the cpu and reinstalled it more than once before but this time it worked fine. Not really sure what's going on with the cpu but motherboard is working great.
I must appologize to Raja and Asus. Thanks for the help Raja and Lardy. I think Lardy is going to kill me on this one.

^ Its not you, Ive had to remount the cpu on several occasions because it just wasnt acting right. Kept getting 55 code with settings that were stable before. Once its running ok, it wont happen again until I take the chip out.

I ever have met this problem too from first time to try with M5E which 0402bios, i try it with G.SKILL 2400C10 (single side) and always stuck @55 by xmp
and sometime won't boot by Jedec or mean to after clear CMOS and i switch same kits (CPU+RAM) to M5G it work fine for XMP and auto setting, then
i switch back to M5E and change ram from TridentX 2400C10(single side) to Double side and it work fine can boot always for xmp. Now the problem is gone
after Shamino send me new bios 0010 it work fine all for single side and Double side.

I think maybe a little problem which bios or try with different RAM slot, my 3570K won't boot with red slot but 3770K won't boot on black slot
