I am having issues changing bclk on M5E - doesn't work for me anymore, neither via BIOS settings nor with TurboEVO.

I suspect the only thing that could have happened, is that I flashed bios 0020 with a raised blck, and that now everything is out of whack

I flashed various bios ( 0704, 0020,0021) ...still the same. A few times I managed to get blck 109, when in fact I had set it in bios at 102 in Bios - any suggestions?

Flashed via flashport, Asus Update and EZflash. EZflash will not take BIOS 0704 - saying it is not an EFI bios - however worked via Asus Update.

Anyone managed to run spi32m with 4x2gb PSC dimms and tight timings over 2450Mhz ??
I can do it on Gigabyte & Asrock boards , but not on MVF & MVE .

Corrupt EC. USB BIOS Flashback might bring it back. You can try the other chip as well...

thanks for the quick reply Raja!! That gives me much hope for a potential quick fix.

In a long sequence of events - at one point I managed to mess up one of my BIOSs (100% my fault) - I switched to the other BIOS chip - and intended to copy from the good BIOS chip to the one with the "borked" bios. Of course I chose the wrong option - and copy the borked version onto the good one....( 100% Fugger fault..he distracted me)

I ended up borrowing a bios chip from Fugger - and flashed both back again. The board has been working fine at the most part - besides the fact of some funky stuff ( e.g. Bios screen show DDR3 5764858mhz and can't raise bclk...)

When you say BIOS Flashback - do you mean the white USB port flashback? I tried that without any succes.

Instead of M5G.CAP download this http://www.mediafire.com/?6h7li3aysp4bsg2 and rename it M5E.CAP

    Thanks for trying to help!
Tried it twice - first time didn't seem to have any effect - I booted to desktop after flash and everything was the same. Using Asus update I first tried to to flash bios to 0010, however it wouldn't let me giving this:

Using Asus Update I then flashed to bios 0604 and this time it accepted it and flashing process would go to 100% ( but Asus Update program was hanging) and at reboot I got this:

Used white USB flashback port to reload BIOS and then switched to BIOS chip #2 and started over again flashing the M5G.cap file (of course renaming it to M5E.cap) however.... now neither bios chip post anymore - Post LED is always blank - and CPU - LED is on/red. Did this all using Sandy Bridge 2500k - maybe it needed to be an Ivy Bridge cpu?

Going try to borrow Fuggers M5E bios chip later again and start over....

What does ME bios stand for? Intel management engine bios?

    Hi Mike,

Download the MVE BIOS, and rename that please. Not sure if you grabbed the MVG BIOS instead there as that would brick things.

If that does not work, use one of Fugger's good chips (pre-flashed on his board), and see if the board behaves as normal with it.

I should make it clearer "Instead of M5G.CAP download this http://www.mediafire.com/?6h7li3aysp4bsg2 and rename it M5E.CAP"....

    Sorry for miscommunication Mike.

Yeah that caught me out at first. I am wondering if he grabbed the file from Shammy's thread instead...

I didn't try that tool kit myself but it sounds like a proper way to upgrade/downgrade bios.

After getting Fugger's Bios chip - I was able to flash both of my borked chips - I have both Bios 0021 flashed to first Bios chip and 0020 flashed on the other chip

With both Bios I still cannot change bclk - is there a special way to upgrade the ME?

with 0021 I get this bootup screen - showing memory incorrect

Name:	0021.jpg
Views:	834
Size:	168.0 KB
ID:	129954

with 0020 it shows the memory speed correct:

Name:	0020.jpg
Views:	818
Size:	213.8 KB
ID:	129955

In both cases I still cannot change blck. Neither in Bios nor on desktop

It is very possible that I have damaged something during a LN2 session - any hint on how to get ME to properly update or waht to look out for?

    Hey Mike,

I think we have a tool for this somewhere. Hold tight and I'll see what I can find ASAP.

as said youre wasting your time trying to use another rom chip from another mobo

    1. Acquire a USB Thumb Drive
    2. Format the USB drive with a FAT32 file system
    3. Download this M5E.CAP http://www.mediafire.com/?p1lkbfpo4c5j7cr
for your motherboard and place the file on the USB drive
    4. Place the USB drive into the ROG Connect white USB Port (Mobo with just standby power from psu.)
    5. Hold the Rog connect button down for 5 seconds and an amber light near the BIOS chips will flash for some time and when flashing has stopped the BIOS has been successfully updated..
    6. verify bclk works
    7. can normally flash to bios of choice

Awesome Peter! You are the best!

I am able to change bclk now in Bios after this flash! Wasn't able to use TurboEvo to change bclk with this 0018 flash - I will now try 0020 now.

EDIT: back to 0020 Bios and everything working perfect! Thanks again everyone!

I feel really stupid for asking this, because I'm sure I'm missing something....

Where are you guys finding these bios versions? I'm looking on the Asus site under Maximus V Extreme and Win7/64... only seeing 0604 and 0704 and an older 0257.
