    Q6600@3.2Ghz & EVGA 780i replacement?

My box is on its last legs... i've had to pull my overclock back from 3.6Ghz down to 3.2 to keep it stable and the memory controller is still flakey as everyone else seems to have noticed...

My dad is looking into an i3 sandbridge box which has had me looking too... i've come up with getting an ASRock Z77 Extreme6 and an i5-3750K... but is this a good idea or is there a better combo out there? i will NEVER run multiple graphics cards again. i ran a pair of 9600GT KO's when they were first released and held the record for fastest box with them for about 6hrs, lol, but i intend to keep a single card any time i upgrade. I currently still run a 5850 that is under water and ive honestly only ran into one game that taxed it since I only game at 1680x1050 on my 20.1" monitor.

You can't go wrong with that setup. Should be a nice boost over your 6600.

Go with this for your RAM:

    Read more about it here:

    ^^ %100

This ram is nice for the price I have three sets. I run all mine @ 2133mhz 10-10-10-24 1.50v

Also with the ASRock Z77 Extreme6 and an i5-3750K you'll be set. You'll see a substantial performance increase.

i looked into things a bit more and i'd go with the Extreme4 instead of the Extreme6 since i dont need all the extra slots and whatnot.

now i'm trying to decide between ivybridge and sandybridge... the 2500K was 10bucks cheaper and had a 15 dollar discount last night...

Ordered a 3750K, ASRock Z77 Extreme4 and 8GB of the nifty Samsung ram... my dad ordered the same thing but with some crappy 130 dollar 2 core cpu and is going to reuse his 9600GT that i sold him when i shifted from 9600GT SLi to a single 5850...

Should be interesting to see the difference in performance between the two systems.
