    8gb
    850 psu

    i game and stream quite a bit to PS3

    good enough?

    thanks!

    i would get a board like the asrock extreme 4 over the asus, the asus boards are overpriced. i would get a 650W or 750W psu (what unit are you looking at.) and i would look at getting 8GB of ram, it is cheap and there is no reason to buy single sided ram sticks (4GB double sided are standard now, so 2GB sticks are single sided.)

    hello ppl, happy 4th of July..... you too!

    3570k with Asus z77 Good choices

    gtx 670 or 680 4gb (need to do some more reading on them, i want to do 3 x 1920*1080) Get the 680, there are some issues with either the drivers or the 670 itself they haven't figured out yet. My 680s in SLI doing great, WHQL and beta 304.79.

    850 psu I prefer Corsair of Antec PSUs. Good idea to get a little more wattage (reserve) than needed, allows for later upgrades and puts less strain on the PSU itself.

    I'd honestly consider one big display over 3 1080 displays. Surround and eyefinity still have their share of teething problems and unless you nab yourself some half decent non TN displays, the experiance can be somewhat of a let down in my opinion. You may also find performance won't be adequete with a single card without toning down things in some titles so thats a compromise you will have to be willing to make.

    That said, a 4GB gpu wouldn't hurt at all and the 3570 and Asus Z77 boards are both solid choices. Pretty much any cheap kit of PC12800 will do the job and the benifits beyond that aren't substantial enough to justify the cost where gaming and general tasking are concerned.

    @OS

    Just curious, what are these so called 670 issues you speak of? Unless there is truely an outstanding issue with them, I'd give the nod to a aftermarket 670. The 680s aren't worth the added cost ( I bought mine before the 670s launched XD )

    now that im home, i can give more details on brands and models;

    ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
    EVGA GTX 680 4GB
    CORSAIR HX850
    Intel i5-3570K IB
    CORSAIR 8GB, i was thinking some PC16000 to allow some decent OC.

    As far as surround vision; i currently have (1) 2209wa, i may not be able to find 2 more to have matching monitors, so i was thinking on going for the 2312hm, i really would like to stay wuth 1680*1050 but i think the resolution has been phase-out (not sure didnt really look into it). I have been wanting surround vision ever since it came out, and i figured the technology matured enough and worked the bugs out,

    @Chickenfeed; now that you planted the seed, i will look into a 24".

    Thanks for the input guys.

    I picked up a 2312hm during Dell's boxing day sale and used it up until recenty ( using a 27" now ). Its a solid all around monitor and I didn't have any serious complaints (other than IPS having average constrast; I'm used to MVA and Plasma panels which both have really strong contrast and deep blacks ) but having used a 24" 16:10 display for a few years prior, it did seem smaller so if you are one to prefer 16:10, I'd take a look at their 24" version here. The next stepup image quality wise is the U2410 but it is a wide gamut display so that can be more of a burden than a blessing and it also has more input lag and lower pixel response performance.

    looks like a good parts list, i still think that the asus boards are overpriced, that sabertooth is about the same as the extreme 4 but it costs $100 more (almost double)

    If you want a board with regual updates, a Extreme4 or Extreme6. Memory: 8GB G-Skill, they are hands down the best to buy from right now even their cheap 1600MHz kits all seem capable of hitting 1866MHz. Nothing wrong with the choice of CPU, although I'd get a GTX670 and not a 680 as the permium of the 680 doesn't justify the minimal performance increase. I would say grab a 4GB 670, but the premium for the extra 2GB vRAM isn't justified really either, you are looking to pay around a extra £60-80 just for that extra 2GB vRAM, its daylight robbery really. A 2GB GTX670 it is then. PSU: a good 850w unit, it'll give you futureproofing for any future upgrades. As much as Corsair RAM blows, their PSUs are good.

    wouldnt the extra 2GB matter when running 3 monitors, with the 79xx they have been shown to use almost 3GB with 3x1080p?

    thanks the input guys, i think the 2412 is the one i was looking at for a single monitor, the triple setup i have always had doubts to make the jump, it is a lot of $$$$ to invest and not be sure that i will be happy with the result, I may just stick with a single 24" maybe, maybe a 27".

    Ket, i have your reviews here to read up on, i am leaning towards the extreme 6, since you mention is a more solid board compare to its lil brother extreme 4.

    the psu and ram will more then likely be corsair, i think they put out good products.

    I'd get a 40-50'' TV, then just upgrade the GPU, that rig looks fine to me

    I'd personally recommend against upgrading to SB/IB: that old Lynnfield has plenty of kick left in it. Use the $350-400 saved to go with a better graphics card or better monitors. I'd still recommend the RAM upgrade--drop in a 2x4GB kit. A PSU upgrade is probably unnecessary.

    Dell U2412HM (24" IPS -- 1920x1200) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824260047

    If I had $1000 to blow on my system, I'd probably grab three U2412's. I've got an i7-950 & HD5850 so I'd be limited at such high resolutions, but I think it'd be worth it.
