Looking for Ivy Bridge E solid info

Hi,

For some time I was planning to build 8 core desktop. At first I thought that it would be possible with Sandy Bridge E, but despite having 8 physical cores, they limited non-server edition to 6 So I was thinking that in next revision (Ivy Bridge E) they will bring full 8 cores to desktop. But there is no info about Ivy Bridge E from Intel at all :/ There were some rumours that it won't hit until H2 of 2013, but I find it impossible - it would be better to skip it than releasing so late, we can probably expect Haswell E by then. Also in the initial slides Intel promised upgrade path in socket 2011 to Ivy Bridge E, so it should definitely come out and I would still position it in autumn 2012 (september-november). I am planning to build a rig in that time (hoping for full GK110 Kepler to release on desktop as well about that time).

Does any of you have some solid info about release of Ivy Bridge E?

I've found no solid dates either (I'm s2011 too, waiting for IB-E). My guess for the possible delay 'til 2H2013 is two fold 1) let Haswell get established and 2) wait and see how the follow-on to AMD's Bulldozer does.

As probably I won't get any answers, I'll ask another thing - if Ivy Bridge E does NOT come out this year and I would like to buy 8 core Sandy Bridge E Xeon, which boards support it properly? I know about Asrocks X79 Xtreme series, but what about others? I tried to look at Asus page for example and their X79 boards does not seem to have BIOS support for any Xeons, can someone provide more info on that?

Ivytown will not be out in retail channels until H2 2013 at the earliest.. Some vendors are just getting A1 samples in now, but nobody who'd leak anything interesting. I can't really say much more but look for 12c/24t.

With that in mind I went with 3930K, I was considering some Xeon 8 core that were selling cheaply, but it was fishy(seller did not wanted to tell how he got the chips) and I figured out that I will get more performance for most or all of my needs with unlocked 6 core.
If it will be worth it, I'll upgrade to Ivy Bridge E when they are out, probably it is last possible upgrade to S2011, but at the moment there are no future-proof systems anyway(going with 4 core Ivy Bridge right now would be even worse for my needs, and I could not wait any longer).
