One heck of a storm here in Ohio last night

Work and my place were unaffected, including my dilapidated shed that looks like it will fall down any minute. Not sure how it is still standing. Other places weren't so lucky.

We basically had hurricane force winds come through in several places in Columbus. I was at home when it hit, looking out my window, and all of a sudden it was this rushing wall of rain and water coming at me, practically drowning out visibility. I jumped into my windowless bathroom real quick because I wasn't sure what it was going to do!

Some pictures that others have taken from places around here that I'm familiar with:

This one I thought was a little amusing since there wasn't really much damage here

My parents house is fine. They did lose half a tree (split in half at a Y in the trunk) but it only fell in the yard and did no other damage. Plenty of branches down but nothing serious. They've been without utility power for 18 hours now but they have a home standby generator which has kept everything important online.

I was on mumble with a buddy last night, he lives in Virgina real close to DC. He showed the sever weather map for his area, there was like 7 different warnings, all at once. We here in CA can't understand it. Sure we get earthquakes and fires but as far as weather goes, we got it easy. I'm in the Bay Area this week and its real nice a cool here.

Good storms were rollin through central PA as well. I didn't get much more than an awesome light show, but some places got rocked.

Miserable weather here but no big storms. My hot water service shat itself last night though. At least I can repair the thing myself.

This was the most powerful thunderstorm/wind storm I've been through here and I've lived in this state for 17 years. It really was a freak storm in a way.

We got that storm here in Pittsburgh as well. People are still cleaning up today. We had several neighbors with trees down. It sure was a big one. We used to spend our summers on Fripp Island, South Carolina though and that storm would have been considered a light drizzle down there.

We had another storm come through tonight and knocked some 20,000 people back out of power again. Figures. About 400,000 still don't have power since that storm came through Friday evening. My parents and my brother are some of them. Oh, my brother, his wife, and 6 month old kid were at her parents' place since they have power and the storm this evening sent a tornado at them. Hail shredded their garden and put some holes in the vinyl siding of the house, but that's all the damage there was thankfully. And go figure they still have power through all that!

Well that's a silly place to put a trampoline in the last picture.

    Glad everyone is ok though.

We received heavy hail south of Detroit, some people comparing the hail damage to a drive by. Sad really.
