chkdsk win7 volume on xp machine

Are there any drawbacks/problems from running chkdsk from a windows7 or vista disk on a machine running xp or visa versa

well ive been doing it for years now and never noticed anything. apparently there are a few new features with the new chkdsk, but for most intents and purposes it works just fine either way. i was just curious if anything behind the scenes wasn't good for the OS, but from searching the web i havn't found any evidence of that being the case

    no.
You can even run chkdsk on a NT4 and it wil run ok. NTFS is old but good.
Well, In such an old scenario, NT4 wont check some structurs or metadata like quotas, encrypted folders, etc but the basics will be checked lol
