OK so tell me... Radeon 7950

I just upgraded from my trusty but old Radeon 4870 to a 7950. Is there a F@H client program that works well with this card? Worth running F@H on it? Trying to get F@H running on the 4870 was a huge pain and it was quite unstable, and even when it ran the work done was mediocre at best.

Hey Sparky, it's been a long time! How are you?

Points wise you can let it run, but consumption wise it's still worse that nV or SMP. So just decide by what you can pay for utilities...

Fired it up for a test run - estimating 5400-ish PPD. Seems... low? Or maybe not. About 2x as fast as the 4870 ever was and it actually started up first try. What's the nvidia cards doing PPD-wise? I haven't tested power usage yet. *edit* ok as I was typing this the estimated PPD went up to 5900.

Did a little testing and number crunching. My 7950 does pull less than I thought. Difference between idle and folding is about 75-80 watts. At my current electric rate that is $7.50-$8.00 a month for about 6000 PPD (depending on the WU). Also it still requires 1 thread of the CPU to run at full tilt (seems to do OK with a thread from HT so not using a full core), so that would impact my WCG output a little bit.

Hm, decisions decisions. Until I make up my mind it's running... Which might mean I might never "make up" my mind and it'll keep running. Heh.
