Is there a guide for installing WCG on Ubuntu? I found a lot of incomplete information around the web and got it up and running but figured if we didn't have a complete guide here then I would put one together from the steps I followed.

Or this one that was posted 2 weeks ago. It is for USB, but I would think it should work for a hd too.

okay... so one thing I'm still missing is something like CPUZ. Even in Windows most programs report overclocked CPUs at their rated speed instead of their current speed. CPUZ however reports the overclocked speed correctly. I'm running into the same issue in Linux where a 2500k reports 3.3GHz no matter what the setting in the BIOS says. Any ideas?

dmesg | grep -i mhz properly reports the overclocked speed on my Opty
Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.

All 3 of those suggestions yield the same result... stock clock. In BIOS it's definitely 5000 MHz. In OS everything I can find says either 3300 MHz or 3800 MHz.\
edit: So I just found two tools. x86info and inteltool. Both reported 3300 MHz but also returned errors at the end. x86info saying it was incompatible and inteltool saying Error: Dumping MSRs on this CPU (0x0006a0) is not (yet) supported.
So maybe I can't get the correct info...

You sir, get an internet cookie.
When I run i7z I get a bunch of crap at the beginning telling me everything all the other programs told me but then it gives a live status of current freq, then a breakdown of cores, and current multi along with current temp. Temps look accurate as well. Thanks PoppaGeek.

curses based front ends are nice for when you ssh in and not at term or using a VNC type login. Nice looking app.
