Run BoincTasks on a mobile device.

I just discovered that you can run BoincTasks from a Android tablet or iPad. While the web site only says iPad I tried it on my Android tablet and it works great.

First download latest version of BoincTasks to your PC. Info on running it on a Mac or Linux here.

Once running on PC open Extra > BoincTasks Settings. Goto the WWW tab and check the Enable Webserver on port: I used 80 you can also use 8080.

Then go to your tablet or iPad and open your web browser. I tried Dolphin and Firefox and both worked. Enter the IP# of the PC running BoincTask followed with a colon and the port number. Example 192.168.1.119:80

While this would probably work on a phone I would think there is too much info to try on a small screen.

    NOTE:

The web site says in the iPad instructions to open the Mobile tab under Extra > BoincTasks Settings. but mine did not have that tab. EDIT: Figured it out. The Mobile Tab is in the beta version, which I am not running. It also says nothing about Android.

This should work from and PC or laptop. Could be handy.

Here is a thread on setting up BoincTasks for the first time.

Just tried on my netbook and works fine. A limited view as on the tablet as it does not seem to scroll horizontally.

One nice thing is notice at top of page. Menu items are there and work. If you click on Computers the screen on the host PC will change to the Computers tab. To see it on the netbook or tablet hit refresh on your browser. When I clicked on Tasks the menu drops down showing available commands.

Thanks. I will have to try this. I have to admit though that at first I thought you talking about crunching on a mobile device.

BoincTasks is a Boinc monitoring program. I am not saying Boinc work units. The program BoincTasks has a built in web server so you see how your crunchers are doing from anything that will run a web browser.
