Corsair Neutron SSD Series using LAMD controller

    It looks impressive!

    Availability, July

    Link to pcper

    Neutron (Standard):

    90,000 read / 85,000 write IOPS (assumed 4k random)
    555MB/s read / 370MB/s write (sequential)

    Neutron GTX:

    90,000 read/write IOPS (assumed 4k random)
    555MB/s read / 500MB/s write (sequential)

The GTX is supposedly using toggle mode NAND.

Link_A_Media Devices (LAMD) is new to me, they do have some interesting investors like Micron, Seagate, NEC, ...

according to those Hynix bought LAMD, this may mean Neutron series use Hynix Nands ?

EDIT: anyway i guess hynix doesnt manufactures Toggle nands so it could be still using Toshiba..

In many past SSD articles, we've included the FutureMark 3DMark Vantage HD Suite results. This benchmark is a very good indicator of what many refer to as "real world performance". Again Neutron Series SSDs are a very strong performer but Neutron Series GTX pulls ahead again due to the Toshiba Toggle-Mode NAND flash.
a few benchmarks, 84K pcmark vantage impressive

Seeing that Hynix paid a whopping $248 million, LAMD must have some sweet enterprise level gear to justify that price tag.

LAMD doesn't just make SSD Controllers, but I believe Hynix is going to use them to break into the OEM market. Hynix has a line of self-branded 2281s I think (just announced a few days prior).

In the TweakTown review I talked about LAMD building the controller for the Seagate Pulsar 2.
