asus 6850 oc direct cu hdmi audio problems

ok, so i've started using the hdmi port on my hd 6850, and the audio works until the computer suspends the monitor (my tv) when i wake it up, it says audio device not connected.(but it gives me video, so that's obviously wrong.

i either have to turn my tv off, then back on, unplug the cable and plug it back in, or restart my computer entirely to get audio back. it's been different every time.

anyone have this same issue or know a fix for it?
