    and EA/origin officially sucks.. more

I finally caved to buying BF3.. oops.

First I had issues with payment authorization, which was due to an issue on Origin's side when attempting to use paypal as the payment source.

Second the rep that helped me with the issue told me the version of BF3 I was buying had B2K (back to karkand) with it, which I found odd as it was not mentioned on the product page..

Thirdly I dont have B2K because it only comes with the limited edition (which is the same price as the normal version of BF3 but is not listed on Origin apparently, and the rep had them confused I guess because he must have only looked at the price).

Fourth the live support reps cant do anything about my lack of B2K.. not necessarily their fault as they need authorization for that, so its their superiors fault really.

Fifth the Origin client is horrible, wow. Cant resize windows when you need extra width it seems, live support chat just keeps going width wise and needs to be dragged wider constantly rather than word wrapping, and BF3 never comes up in front when I open a server.. always have to watch for it to pop into the taskbar then click on it manually.

For what its worth the reps have been good other than that B2K screwup which they cant seem to fix now.

Guess I will just have to work my way up the food chain a bit to fix the B2K issue.

I thought the B2K pack was just if the game was preordered before launch as a promotion, I think it has to be purchased seperatly now. Battlelog takes some getting used to but it really is pretty decent once you are used to it IMO.

The rep was mistaken by the looks of it. That said, they should provide Back to Karkand free of charge to you for the inconvience. Let us know how they resolve this for you, if they do at all that is...

I loathe EA so badly! However I love me some BF.

Majority of the problems with this game is having to deal with EA. Other than that the game is very fun. Also the issue with BF3 not taking the foreground is normal, it will sit minimized in the taskbar until you are fully loaded in the server, then it will pop up. Also load-in times are really high if you are not running the game on a SSD.

    This 100%.

I'm trying to get myself into the game now that I have no issues running it but I'm having a tough time letting myself. Mabey when I'm burnt on Diablo 3... Funny enough I've played through the single player more times than I care to admit. I got up to rank 23 the first week and haven't really touched the multiplayer since

Fortunately I haven't had too many issues with Orgin but I'm still annoyed by the lack of in game voice. Having to muck about in battlelog is no fun. Although it wasn't perfect, BF2s implementation was more user friendly by far.

If you want a hand going through the coop to get the unlocks let me know. I actually quite enjoyed doing those when the game came out but no one seems to care anymore.

True BF2 players like myself are extremely disappointed in BF3. I could live with all the Origin crap but major issues is the lack of proper teamwork/squads, no commander, no LAN, air vehicles completely ****ed up, 3d spotting, small maps, way too many unnecessary unlocks. And then there is a huge list of minor issues. All they had to do is to improve BF2 graphics with Frostbite 2 and add some small changes and tweaks, nothing big really.

BF3 is a great game. I was hoping it would be released on steam but I'm not about to wait around for that to happen. It seems like it never will so I'm glad I got it when it was released. I have a ton of hours in the game and there is a reason for that... it's pretty damn fun.

People trying to boycott EA are fighting a lost cause. It's about the equivalent of a fast food junkie boycotting McDonalds. Go ahead and try. McDonalds will continue on. Same with EA.

There's a hack that allows legit customers whom have bought the game to play without Origin. In situations like this I would not have any issues using it if I played online, because it's a full priced game like any other, and I'd expect better software management than EA's Origin offers for the online part of the game.

Just as I said on the Diablo thread, it's not about whether you can avoid certain features like Origin. Buying the game means accepting the terms, and I don't want to accept this scam.
Is the game fun? Sure it is, but there are thousends of fun games out there; I don't need to bow and drop pants just to have fun.

If you want games to be like BF3 (less features than previous game, constantly raping customers, banning you for something you said on their forums, etc) then go buy it guys. If you don't want this to be the trend, then don't buy it.

The way I see it the problem with that mindset is you end up using boycotting to punish the publisher, but the developer ends up hurting more than them. Origin is EA's baby, not DICE's. I don't really see anything wrong with using a compromising principal where the game is purchased, say at a significantly lower sale price vs full price, and the Origin nightmare is circumvented via the aforementioned "workaround".

Everyone under the sun exercises at least some level of control and leverage with intellectual property. Even Slightly Mad, whom broke the EA chain to go and work on the fan funded Project CARS are enticing people to register on the game's forum, but they can't so much as lurk to glean more about the game without contributing at least the nominal amount of investment first. I NEVER buy into a game on faith alone.

The fact is gaming has become big business and very political. I mean look at some of the dev teams that used to be so rock solid in supporting PC and making great games. A lot of them have fallen to the console cash cow. Epic Games, and even Id now seem hell bent on console first (or exclusively) and quantity over quality.

All such reasons as that is why I have now vowed I will not buy a game from a developer like that. I might still play the game if it interests me enough, but it doesn't mean I bought it

Frag Maniac, you are right and I agree with you. Boycotting hurts the developer as well as the publisher.
I like neither Origin nor EA, but I don't like DICE or BF3 either.

BF3 has less features than BF2. Graphics come after playability for me, and BF3 is not what it should be.
No commander (!!!!), arcade jets, run&frag CoD style rather than BF2's slow and tactical, clan-friendly action. I don't like it. Besides, while every other game would allow me to type ñ to my friends using the in-game chat, DICE games won't let me do it. Spaniards can't use our language because the morons at DICE don't use differente languages for in-game chat. I can type ñ, and áé:banana:óúüÁÉÍÓÚ while playing DOTA, Down of War, almost every other game. But not DICE games.

This guys can't code . They are mediocre developers, wrapped in hype and tons of marketing. I've played better indie games.

And EA/DICE take it further by rolling out "Premium" for BF3. They can't fix the game after months but can ask for money for community splitting features.

Give it up to EA for having a Pay to Win scheme for a retail game.

Again, you keep implying it's DICE's fault, but look who owns them now. I learned back when GRAW 2 was being made while chatting on the official forum that their then publishing partners Ubisoft were entirely the problem, not DICE. DICE was actively trying to take feedback on the forum over things customers wanted, but Ubi put a gag order on them and temporarily halted their access to the forum. When tons of fans complained about it, they lifted it. So there's always some chance if lots of fans complain to specifically the pubs, that the devs might get more freedom to make games the way they should be.

This looks to me to be a lot like the problems that caused the fiasco that brewed between IW and Activision. Anytime publishers put too many limitations on the creative control of developers, bad things happen. What's ironic is IW jumping from Acti to EA, I'm not sure they'll wind up any better off. Maybe a little bit financially, but other than that, could be the same old same old.

Becoming a great dev team is like a double edged sword. On the one hand you've built up a rep that includes gold if not platinum pre launch status, lots of interest from publishers, and a devoted fanbase. On the other, being big requires a big publisher that can handle the funding and logistics behind a huge launch. We all know that the bigger the publisher, the more greedy they are.

Well, I don't know if DICE feels happy with how BF3 has turned out, but even if they feel constrained by EA to do the game in a way they don't want to, and if they're innocent of the state of the game, my only way to express my dissatisfaction is still to boycott the game.

Don't forget that EA might be pressing DICE, but it was DICE who agreed to work with them in the first place. I've been delivered a disappointing game (always IMHO) and somebody has to take the blame. If we buy it, nobody will care about this and BF4 will be even worse.

You've got a point there nevertheless.

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...8H40DE20120604

now u can be a chump and sign up for both BF3 premium, COD elite just to view some stats, or get some virtual items in the form of skins that dont mean shizzle in real world, or erase stats that no one cares but u.

or u can pay real world money to beat diablo 3 inferno in their RMAH. paying money to beat single player game. isnt that how it suppose to be? right ....

Alternatively, forget about all that crap and go spend the money in the pub where you might meet a moderately hot girl to shag.
