spilled some pepsi on my graphics card... what do i do?

Hey all, I was watching some show on Hulu, when I knocked an empty can of pepsi off my desk. It landed right inside my open computer case.

There were about four drops on the video card, and my computer was tilted at an angle, so it ran across the PCB.

To my surprise, there was no fizzle pop or anything. My video kept playing just fine. Nevertheless, I unplugged my computer, ripped out the card, and began pouring some 91% isopropyl alcohol over it and wiping it with a paper towel. I have some cotton swabs, but that's it.

I'm kind of afraid to risk putting it back together without at least getting some advice. What else should I do to clean up?

    Why two threads?

If you got the pepsi off and it's dry you should be good to go.

no replies in several hours, and I wanna be back up asap. I know how many people here stick to specific boards, so... I got a little impatient I guess.
    Thanks.

wipe it down with rubbing alcohol until it is clean (hopefully it was diet so it wont be sticky and easy to clean.) while cleaning it, make sure that you are grounded (so not on carpet), make sure that you use something saturated with rubbing alcohol so you do not generate static with you cloth or paper towel. you will also want to hit it with a hair dryer once you are done to help it dry faster and i would let it set for 8-12 hours or more affter you finishing cleaning it.

Have your cat lick it off, or borrow itznfb's.

Seriously though, denatured alcohol is MUCH better than ANY percentage of isopropyl because it doesn't leave any residue. It can be had cheap in quart cans in big box stores where cleaning and camping supplies are sold. It's used for various clean ups, hobbies, alcohol stoves, etc. Just don't get it near any sparks or flames because it's uber flammable.

I have iso on hand, and my car is broke, so I'm sticking with iso.

Drat! The dastardly beverage is more cunning than I expected? Upon using a can of blow-off, I have discovered that pepsi has made its way into my PCIe slot!
I'm using blow-off as pepsi-off at the moment. Then, I'll pour some alcohol in there and do what I can to clean it up. I think it's safe to say, though, that I no longer have an SLI board...

If your really paranoid about getting it dry, go buy a large bag of processed white rice and bury it in there for an hour or so. The rice will absorb any residual moisture. I did this once for a friends motherboard when he sprung a major leak during leak testing a LC loop.

With all that said, I wouldn't bother; it should be fine.
