Carmageddon: Reincarnation Kickstarter Needs Your Blood Money

Yes, Stainless Games, the creators of the first two (and best) Carmageddon games has the rights to the name (again) and is making the game (finally). By doing a kickstarter, the sadistic folks like Nobby and crew will be able to keep the game true to it's origins. Blood, guts, humor and vulgarity.

But they need your help. And I already gave them money, so I want you to also. I want this game, and I don't want some third party getting their fingers in it and ruining it. So please, go give the Carmageddon crew your money. $15 gets you the game guaranteed. Higher tiers available, but you can see all that at the Carmageddon: Reincarnation kickstarter page

and if you don't know anything about Carmageddon, go to the official home of Carmageddon, which may be considered NSFW due to it being Carmageddon.

    My favorite "driving" game ever.

Modern games don't know gore and violence.

There are 3 ways to win: Go through all the checkpoints the fastest, be the only racer alive, or be the first to run over X number of pedestrians.

    Pedestrian Splash Bonus, anyone?

the carmageddon kickstarter is steaming towards the 400k goal, with less than 5k to go.

among some of the great updated rewards, GOG.com will be offerring vouchers for the original carmageddon, updated to run on modern systems, so you can play while they finish building Carmageddon Reincarnation

Already in on this, I also live just a few miles from their HQ. For things like this & Grim Dawn Kickstarter really is the best way to go, helping the developers make great games.

I'm grinning stupidly now. The guys and gals at carmageddon released a very very early test-bed video showing off some progress. You can see the full post at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...arnation/posts

and here's the video if you don't want to read all the "this is a work in progress and very very early blah blah blah" disclaimers. Awesome starts about 13 seconds in. Vehicle pictured is (I believe) one of the alternate Eagle models, not the default.

UPdate: they just passed the 600K mark for the stretch goal. That means they're guaranteeing to add:
    ■MAC version
    ■LINUX version
    ■SPLIT-SCREEN PC!
    ■CO-OP!

only 5 hours left if you want to get in at $15 (or $25 if you want early beta access)

TBH I don't know why mac and linux are so high on their list, I would of though expanding the game and making it as good as possible would of taken higher priority.

ED - $603,808 with 4 hours to go. COUGH UP YA CHEAPY BASTARDS! I want a uber l33t Carmageddon Reincarnation

As far as I understood it, mac and linux are going to be developed/ported after the PC game goes live (same as the DRM free version, etc). Partly I think it was a smart PR move to get more attention and up-front cash. Once the PC game is live the cash being generated by that can be put into the ports.

    I actually funded $25 for this ^^ I love Carmageddon 1, Splat Pack & Carmageddon 2. For me I'd optimally want a fusion of 1 and 2.

just judging by the pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha test bed (which was shown in that video), i'd say it should be pretty splatty. Especially considering they're going to bring back the football stadium complete with players (and I believe cheerleaders). If you paid at least $25 during the kickstarter, you'll be able to get into the betas (probably starting in the november+ timeframe) and give feedback.

And if it's not gory enough, the mod community will up the ante significantly. Most likely there will even be a config file you'll be able to get into and mess with some aspects of this yourself.

That makes me happy Its been far far FAR too long since a true PC game has come out. Kickstarter shows that there is plenty of PC gamers willing to part with their cash, they just want assurance what they pay for is going to be worth it and what better way to get that assurance than by devs going back to the days of old when they openly talked to the fans and implemented what the fans asked for.
