Which Windows 7 for Retro Gaming?

I do a bit of retro gaming with games from the 2003-2005 era. I mod them a bit as well.

With saying that, I use Photoshop CS5, 3dsm 8 and 3dsm2012 more so than gaming.

I was going to go with Windows 7 Pro 64bit because as I understand, it has compatibility mode to run 32 bit applications.

It was 2003 since the last time I built a PC. I have just recently (in the past 6-8 months) started researching all this new hardware. So I'm still learning as I go

Any help on the right OS for me would be appreciated!

Windows 7 Pro or Home Premium (as long as you don't run over 16GB of RAM) 64-bit are fine.
