    3770k IHS Removals - CPU temp dropped from 79C to 71C

    I wiped off the original TIM and then replaced it with Artic Silver to see how much of a difference a change of TIM would make.
    Before removing the IHS the temperature was 79 degrees and now the temperature is down to 71
    but it should be much better cz theoretically the performance of the Arctic Silver should improve after the 48 hours are up!
    and the benchmarking was done under different ambient air temperature
    today was 3 degrees Celsius hotter than my first test with the original TIM

    here is the v?:banana:deo ,its about how to remove and tests with better grease than original TIM
    (its portuguese ,if you guys only want to watch the end of the test jump to 9:00)

    before removing the IHS
    3770k at 4500MHz @ 1.15v with original TIM - room temp at 25c
    max temp -> 79c

    and after removing the IHS and replaced the original TIM for Artic Silver
    3770k at 4500MHz @ 1.15v with Artic Silver - room temp at 28c
    max temp -> 71c

    Nice video! Much better than the butchered IveBridge IHS removal video posted a couple weeks ago.

    This makes me want to try it. Could I use something like crazy glue to refasten the IHS?

    Seriously thinking about doing this to my 3770k, but with SS cooling will condensation inside the IHS be a problem?

    Looks like it will be. For anyone attempting this: you have to be EXTREMELY careful about the substrate (green board) - there are function critical traces just below the surface and it's very easy to scratch them, especially if your razor blade is flexible. If you're careful this is almost a no risk operation though

    Booted ok, was a little worried. Saw the traces as soon as I removed it, was thinking "OH SH*t". I was also concerned about condensation getting under the IHS, I resealed the IHS with a thermal adhesive around the edges to try and prevent any problems.

    LOL! You're going to remove the IHS and then are still wanting a warranty on the processor?

    i think we will have a little problem,because we need to remove the whole retention bracket
    but will work better with direct contact with the base of the heatsink
