Why is it so many people are using Vantage? Everybody knowns 3DM11 and Heaven 3.0 are the way to go

Hmmm... I'm so very tempted to grab a GTX670.. Its a tossup between that and a I7 3770k. The CPU would be way more fun to play with, but the GPU overall would give way more grunt. The only thing putting me off either is price, the GTX670 here in the UK is £280 which puts me off both because the GPU is very cheap to make so nvidia are price gouging and the fact even the GTX670 was supposed to be a mid level card until nvidia realised the performance so "upgraded" it to a high level card. The CPU just puts me off because of price.. £248 and while fun to play with all I'll really get is PCI-E 3.0 as I don't give a toss about the IGP and its unlikely I'll be able to improve much upon 8-9-9-25 1N timings @ 1866MHz.

Yeah I know how you feel Ket.
A while back I was thinking of a new cpu too, but all there is so far is the fx8150, supposedly a new one the 8350 is coming out but I don't hold much respect for those fake 8 core cpu's lol.
I could buy an overpriced $300 board to play with but the fun wouldn't last forever.
Besides, a new board just to try oc'ing the same mem and cpu I got just a little more, and a efi bios, yippy do, I can wait

So I got the card...
Being that it's fri now, it'll probably be here by next wed or thurs.
Besides, the 460se was never top of the line, but it was good enough...
But wth, why not

Now I just need to find a watt meter, one that doesn't have the bad reviews like the kilawatt or whatever it was called...

Yeah dilemmas like this suck

I actually took a closer look at a HD 7950 earlier today which I can pick up for £240-250 and theres some promise there for sure, extra 1GB vRAM and we all know a 7950 can easily go to 1050MHz+ on the core which would put it toe to toe with a GTX670. I find myself grimacing much less at the thought of dodgy AMD drivers than I do a £300 pricetag for the 670. If the 670 were the same price as a 7950 then that would be a different story, but unless nvidia stop the price gouging my cash is probably going to go to the red team this round.

My card is on its own water loop with two 120.3 rads cooling it and a full cover heatkiller block. EVGA 670 FTW model.
At first it was a bad overclocker, i couldnt push more than +50 offset. Tell you the truth i gave up on it. Then i noticed additional power plugs on my rampage even though they state mostly for dual gpus i put a power plug on it anyways. I tried overclockign again.
THis time i got up to 1270 on the core and it would throttle a little. I was so happy. I just flashed the unlocked evga bios and maxed out the voltage. Im testing now at 1362 on the core and 3542 on memory. Will put up screenshots once i find the end result, but man am i happy it wasnt as much of a dud as i thought.

Seriously guys.. if you are trying to get people interested in the thread again start benching Heaven 3.0 and 3DM11. Nobody cares about vantage.
