Any word on when we'll see a gtx 670? Or even more 680s? Shoot... they might as well not even be out yet.

My GTX 480 was a more sexy card also it thew less heat inside the system case than some new cards do, why is it so difficult to eject the hot air at the back? This will need good air cooling inside the case not to mention a better placement of the Mobo chip "My dual fan XFX 7970 spits air almost directly on my chipset "

Nice beast!!999$ it's an idiot price, I personally would never spend that much as a good new system for a video card.
The only thing is the aestethics. While I liked the simple green strip on the black GTX 680 this steel looks...sucks. It's "hick".

Isn't this going to be the most expensive dual GPU card ever (reference, I am not talking about custom solutions)?
It's a really nice card, but the prices... damn. Nvidia's ripping off as hard as it can.
It's priced at a level to be able to sell all available stock at maximum margins - as availability increases to excess prices will decrease.

And it may be a single PCB but it's considerably more complex than of the single cards, and the card features two vapour-chamber coolers (as opposed to 2 non-vapour-chamber coolers on a 680 SLI setup) - just cooled by one fan.

The dual GPU cards are normally comparatively cheaper because the profit margin is not normally equal to 2x the single card, but when every 690 sold means two 680's that aren't due to limited gk104 availability there is no reason for Nvidia to treat the 690 as anything other than a halo product that they don't expect to sell too many of.

It'll also give them some breathing room if AMD launch their next high-end single GPU core well in advance of Nvidia and it significantly outperforms the 680 - as they could price the dual GK104 to compete.

Plenty of people out there are buying two GTX 680 cards for $499 each. There's now a card that will likely perform just like two GTX 680s (minus a small difference in clocks) and you expected NVIDIA to do what? Price it at $799?

I'l go on the board right now and say the GTX 690 will be a success. It is supposed to consume less power and have a lower acoustical profile than 2x GTX 680 and some people are more than willing to pay a premium for that.

At that price, this card will be like Asus Mars, only few in the forums and in the shelves. I donīt understand what Nvidia is doing with this. GTX 680 avalaibility is very bad, and they waste chips in a dual card nonsense?

thats impressive to say the least

kinda pricey but will it even be avail to the public??

Newegg is still sold out of 680s and its been over a month,

I was looking at the 7990 but this looks very tempting indeed.

I can't wait for this thing or GTX670 to be released just so my GTX680 can finally get a long over due driver update.

YEP and if I can get my hands on one and get a water cooler. this would keep me set for 3 years not a bad $1000 investment. Heck even 6990s fetch a pretty penny

The dual x16 channels for each core has me hooked

Must be the most gorgeous looking heatsink design so far, I remember that I used to love the 790O GTX/GTO design but yea this easily beats that. I had still expected $899 personally but yea I can see people still forging out $999.

I think that HD7990, first bios 900/1400 and second bios 1000/1500, will beat GTX680 at 2560 and 5760 with a relative lower price (800$)

This is the first time i`d consider a dual GPU card vs. two physical cards. That thing is.........mmmmmmmmmmmm.

If you push the air back with a dual chip card you blow the hot air from one chip over the other and you end up with one of the chips much hotter than the other and it's better to avoid that

I think it looks very nice, I would prefer more than 2gb availible to each core though on a card of this nature even if it really isnt needed right now today for most people.

Nice card, but we'll be lucky to be able to buy it by the time Big Kepler launches. NVidia is having such difficulty getting enough GF104 GPUs, I can imagine this card will largely exist on paper for most of the summer.

I really dislike how Nvidia uses two slots of video connectors on their dual gpu cards. This is one reason I bought a 6990 over the 590. It is less of an issue on the single gpu cards because inevitably one of cards that get released will fit into a single slot with a waterblock, but the dual gpu cards all use the same design.

$999 is too expensive. Yes it will sell out intially, but very little benefit for going with this thing, compared to a dual card solution. Dual card gives more options with cooling and has more cooling potential. In addition single card give you flexibility of going to SLI later when prices are lower.

Atleast pass on some of the savings like AMD and Nvidia have done in the past. For this card to justify its cost, I would hope that the cards would be clocked faster than their single gpu counterparts.

I think a better price for this card would be $899 if quantities were not going to be this ridiculous.

I don't think the 7990 will be faster as the higher power consumption prevents this, but it will be the much better deal. with current pricing. I can see the 7990 being 799 or max 850. Hopefully by june or whenver the 7990 comes out, quantities of the gtx 680 are sorted out and we see 450 or less for the gtx 680 and 850 or less for the gtx 690. The gtx 8800 ultra price fell really quickly and I see with a 1000 price tag(unless Nvidia makes obscurely small amounts of cards), nvidia isn't going to sell that many of these.
