Arctic Silver still the best option?

    Hi,

Been out of the scene for quite a while, back in the day this was the best thermal paste, I am about to resit my Corsair H50 on my CPU and clean off the old AS and reaply new paste.

Is this still the best option or should I go with something else now?

Prolimatech is even better, but costs about $3 more for a 5 oz tube.

See the charts on this page:

This was compiled after a series of I think 6 or 7 different thermal compound roundup tests. Everything from chococlate to arctic silver 5

I tested most of the common ones before (MX-2, MX-4, TX-2, TX-3, TX-4, AS5, Ceramique, Cooler Master stuff, Thermalright stuff, IC Diamond, and Gelid GC-2), and the difference was so minimal it doesnt really matter. Go for one thats cheap, easy to spread, and non-conductive/capacitive. You can usually get MX-2 from Mwave really cheap, it works well, and is very easy to spread. So I stacked up on it.

You will get more variation in temps from mounting method then you would from one paste to the next. Each paste works best in its own aplication as well. Some like to be spread, some a single dot in the middle, etc... and it also depends on CPU/GPU and heatsink used. There really isnt "this one is best" because its impossible to test every one with every heatsink on every type of CPU/GPU.

For sub zero, you want ceramique (I know thats spelled wrong) or EVGA's stuff though.
