i dont have 100$ for a black. point was to get a good proc and get it running cheaply and efficiently. i have a refurb WD sitting at home ready to go, but its still SCW. i will probably wipe the ssd, format and try 1 more time first

I mean think on this: How many members of Minnesotta Crunchers would tell you to send your not working dualie Supermicro system to them,troubleshoot the thing, find and fix the problems and not charge a dime?
Not that I know anyone here that did that for you..

Hey trn... off topic but what v-core and clocks do you have your 6 core chips running at?

I think you mean the 3930K's right? I have quite a few older 6c Westmeres and Gulftowns also.

I'm running both my 3930k's on auto settings; master overclocker I am My main-rig at 4.5GHz and CPU-Z reads 1.068v which must be an error on this Gigabyte board. I'd guess its more in the 1.27ish range. My other one is only at 4.0GHz because i've yet to put it on proper cooling, no clue what that vcore is.

Too low to be true imo:

No wonder you can't read vcore right your CPU-Z is to old, get the latest 1.61 cause it reads vcore right on 2011 CPU's
