Well I just got the email little while ago. I haven't posted in quite a while.... Years...... I'd love to throw one of my classic machines in. Unfortunately they are older XP machines. What sort of specs do you need?

My dream for years is to see every member of the forum bring just one machine to this for the week.
There are over 168,000 emails going out today. It's at just over half of that now.
Just think if each XS member brought his daily driver for the week.
I am telling you the numbers would astound all of us.
If memory serves me an old E6600 core2duo would do app 7000WCG PPD..
Call that the average machine even though I think the average is much higher.
168,000 x7000=1,176,000,000 PPD
Yes, that is 1.76 BILLION PPD..
That is the power that really exists at XtremeSystems if only people would bring it.
IF everyone came for the two weeks a year we do this we could cut by years the time needed to get thru this work and find the cures.
To anyone reading this, just think about my last line..

1 Million PPD BOINC? Pah-lease... Give me a blindfold and tie one hand behind my back...
I know bud, just busting your chops a bit - If you didn't run so many machines under other's names I wouldn't even be in your league... it'd be like tryin to hunt a grizzly with a bb gun... it's fun to try, but then you have the oh $^(! moment and realize you never stood a chance...)
BTW, I'm really tempted to shatter that, but somehow I think commandeering that many resources might get me fired...
And to think, that's an underestimate... a 2500k is closer to norm here...

Well I got the email but have no idea what it is about. After reading this thread I still have no idea.
Directions to details would help. A link to further info please.
Thanks.

I spotted the WCG in this thread title.
That should direct the rest of the lost souls to the proper thread.

WTF!!! Why do these Super Computer weeks always coincide with the ticks and tocks of Intel??? Now I'm going to be standing in line with the other fools at Micro Center in Sunnyvale on Sunday. And I going to have to sell my boss on the idea of buying 4 of my SB2600s so I can start the transition to IB.

Ah, I know some people still running p4s... but I'd say the average of most people i know in real life are C2Ds, and on this forum C2Qs are common, but seem to be trending out, skt 1366 is very big for people's daily drivers, but with all the benchers running 2600ks and hex cores on 1366/2011 (not to mention the dave's of this world running dual octo-cores...) I'd say the average is closer to an overclocked 920 or a sock 2500k... but maybe that's just my perception.
1 million WCG? But that'd be... like... TRN levels... who'd wanna be like TRN???
That lazy slacker gives all of us crunchers a bad name...
