    I'll be running tests with 4x T7K250 250GB Hitachi's later this week.

    I'll try 0 and 5.

Based on your numbers I should expect somewhere around 200MB/s throughput?

Cadsii, enable the Write Back Cache at the Intel Matrix Console, guaranteed, you'll get higher burst !

i think you guys need to define a cluster size before you can start comparing.

you all know that the burst speed is miss-reported..it is an anomaly in HDtach and the raid driver....enabling write-back cache can not improve burst performance by almost 9 to 10 times..i could maybe believe 2X or 3X but not 10X!

you need to get one when!

when you do...go to their FTP server to download the windows 32 bit drivers for XP and 2K...the version that they put on the CD disc is not compatible with XP and 2K...windows 2003 server drivers on the disc are ok.

It uses the CPU and system ram to cache, I would expect DDR1100 cas 4 is just a tad faster than the Sdram found on most pci-e or pci-x raid cards...

Oh, Here are my results on ICH7R on the WS PRO:

    Raid 0 array -80gb

    Raid 5 array ~900GB

The burst speed isnt the best part, 300+ mb/sec raw transfer is HUGE!

Nothing is wrong, Matrix raid has the option of only making an array out of the fastest part of the drive, this way the array has crazy transfer that does not level off, and it has very low access times...

My benchmarks were done with 7200 rpm drives, and I get 9ms or less access on my raid 0 array

For the guys with strong zig-zagged average Read graphs...try moving your Sata cables further apart. I had cross talk between mine when they were cable-tied together for neatness. The second the cable tie came off and the cables were well spaced my performance was much better.

    whats with teh slowness...

Well, I said I was going to post pics. But strange thing happened...

First day of build I ran HD tach and got ~190MB/s; but, today I am only getting 122.

I've made no changes other than installing games. Checked disk fragmentation is practically non-existant.

    Specs:
    6300 @ 393x6
    p5b dlx
    OCZ 2GB 800 5-5-5-15 @ 1:1
    4x Hitachi T7K250 250GB in RAID 0 on ICH8R

    stripe: 128k
    Test: 8MB zones(quick)

    Hey,

Can you tell me in details your raid config. I am amazed at your results. I get like 99MBps with 2 x 36.7GB Raptors RAID-0 w/ 16K stripe size.

if you are focused on the "burst" speed that is an anomaly with HDTach...it is not reporting it correctly.
