I understand that P8Z77 was never qualified for compatibility with serious raid controllers (like LSI, Adaptec and Areca). But using hardware raid card with 1Gb onboard cache and fast processor is so temptating (both with SAS HDD and SSD).
Well, giving in to temptation usually means there will be some hiccups - just so you are aware that no matter what vendor you go with you will find these things. Even on server boards, if its not on the QVL then it has not been qualified.

I have passed the details on to HQ, so it depends what they can do, no promises but they will look at it.

Just tried it. Still a no-go, CTR I does nothing. Is there anyone with a M5G of any bios number that could simply go into their BIOS and enable RAID and see if they can CTR I into the raid config? It won't mess up and of your data and you can just switch it back.

BTW the official 0602 BIOS wouldn't even load using the BIOS updater under "tool". It says it's not even a BIOS and it had the right nomenclature and .cap and everything. Something odd is going on here, not sure if it's quality control related.

Ya, every other BIOS I've loaded works fine in regard to reading the BIOS to flash it. Just used 0881 and it still won't let me into RAID config menu.

    Here is a video:

As you can see keyboard is working as expected, let's me pause at the raid screen so you know the computer is taking keyboard commands. Yet CTR I does nothing. This problem is just silly but extremely annoying as it's a show-stopper for my new build. If anyone else could test this...

I must be missing the ROG RAID edition keyboard with the special raid config menu key..

Things are improving. Maybe it was a combination of the long flight home I had before installing the board and being unfamiliar with the UEFI/ Asus UI. I am back and running at 4.6Mhz. Have left the mem at default for now.

I know it would be 'clunky' but I wish the board had a Sandy/Ivy switch somewhere! Wishful thinking I know.

Anyone got any tips of manually setting up the options in Digi Tune?

Also if I reduce the core voltage in the Windows utility - what does it change in the UEFI - the voltage associated with that freq? offset or even some tweaking of LLC?

Tried every M5G BIOS in this thread, still cannot get into RAID config. After 5 hours or working on this, time for bed, ASUS has me beat! The only thing I can logically conclude is that the ASUS BIOS people set the RAID config to flash so quickly in order to speed up boot time (it's literally up for less than a second), that it won't register keystrokes no matter how fast you do them.

It will be really sad if I have to put together my disssasembled X79 setup just to create a new RAID volume on my Vertex 4's to use with the M5G.

I finally got into the RAID config. I will post this resolution just in case anyone else has this issue. So the first two keyboards no matter which USB ports, 2.0, 3.0, ASMedia 3.0 wouldn't work to get into RAID config. I remember I had a third unopened mini-MAC keyboard so I gave that a try. As I was testing all of the USB port's it appeared they weren't working until I got to the last one. Only the very top ASMedia 3.0 port finally let me into the RAID config menu. Not sure how or why this is, or why it takes three different keyboards and only one of the USB port's to work for this. Talk about a finicky motherboard.

Oh and my Logitech M570 trackball still doesn't work in the BIOS no matter which USB port I am connected to. First MB (M5G) I've ever had it doesn't work in.

It seems a now common problem with the new Asus Z77 boards and 6950 video cards that have been flashed to 6970.
    http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread...Maximus-Gene-V

Is there any chance we can see bios fixes for the entire line of Z77 boards that addresses this?

ah my mistake, good news is that they obviously know there is an issue, hence the bios release for the M5G, I assume the other Z77 models will get it as well very soon.

    Hi,

Don't know if you could give me any suggestions however I have P77 Sabertooth and 3770k.

Was working fine with orignal bios then I updated to the newer released bios and CPU turbo overclocking options are limited to 35x, 4x 4gb shows in SPD checker but bios only sees 1/2 ram and megaraid 9260i card which was in the bottom pci x 16 slot and running at x4 now does not show. Also the onboard graphics are no longer working. I flashed back to the earler bios but the problem was not resolved. Also tried reseting the bios with the jumper but to no avail.

Any suggestions? Thanks very much advance

Edit also tried the 1050 bios with no luck

Sounds like same problem as the user here had. Here's what he did to fix it:

Seems to be the same problem I have with my LSI 9265 and P8Z77-V Deluxe, doesn't it?

Please confirm that your 9260 did worked with original bios. If so, I'll try to find original bios 0603 for my P8Z77-V Dlx (though ASUS web-sites lists bios starting from 0801, and I don't know if 0603 exists as *.CAP file).

Raja, pls., by the way, do you have any idea why ASUS web site says that 0801 is the first release bios for P8Z77-V Dlx, while my board came with even older 0603? Just want to be sure that my board is not pre-release or pre-production sample.

Pls. don't take it as if I want to bother you by asking to follow the issue with LSI raid cards, but if you hear something about resolution of the issue from your HQ, even roumor-like, please don't hesitate to post it here. I'll keep watching this thread, cause without storage subsytem functioning, computer build is not a computer, sorry to say.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the replies. On the other thread the guy could set the turbo speeds still in the bios I think whereas mine won't go above 35 no matter what other settings I choose.

I can't understand why also the onboard graphics settings have all vanished from the bios and if i try and boot without a discreet graphics card I get a red light above PCIx slot and it refuses to believe it has onboard graphics even with a bios reset and flash (just tried 1050)

I put the old bios back on and the megaraid did come back but none of the other issues were resolved

Is there some way to completely reset the board?

You might have a corrupt flash, in which case RMA the board please.

That was initial shipping BIOS, it was replaced by the *9 series which had ucode updates so we want people going forwards, not backwards. Nobody is selling you pre-production boards.

As for the LSI card issue HQ has replicated. Fix could be some time off as they will validate first, so take a chill pill.

Any further questions on this you can take up with local support in Russia.

I was hoping that it was fixable but maybe RMA is the best option

Also not sure on the original bios number, 8 something I think

Though the megaraid vanished the system did work for a short time with the newer bios 906 but crashed when overclocking and I think that's when I lost the IGP and settings? hmm.....!

I remember when doing bios flashes on other boards options to clear dmi? or something similar some sort of additional reset option
is this possible on the sabertooth or would it be irrelevance?

    Thanks!

    Thanks!
EZ flash would have done all of the overwriting of all relevant blocks unless there was some kind of instability. Something obviously did not go right on your end.
