Guys, I have a weird issue that I get when using my KVM but only when my Gene-V is plugged in. My KVM is an Aten 2-way DVI USB KVM with 3D/120Hz support, if I install it the way the manual/labels say then I get boot straight to bios with kb ( Razer Lycosa)showing in bios but it works only intermittantly, the illumination flickers wildly as if the usb cable is being plugged and unplugged randomly. If I use the mouse port my mouse can not move the cursor. So if I plug the kb and mouse direct to mobo it all works properly. I just RMA'd this KVM for this issue and the new one is exactly the same, any ideas what it might be?

Maybe there is a problem with Intel MEI (Management Engine Interface). See if you can update MEI firmware. There should be version 8.1 for your motherboard (Download -> Firmware).

I did all the solutions that every one suggest. but no go.

Then i return the stupid sabertooth and i bought ASUS Maximus V Formula, and it boot with my four G.Skill sticks 4X4GB without any problem.

Angry Any Z77 motherboards with RAID card support?

Does anyone here know any Z77 motherboards (ASUS or otherwise) that support RAID cards?

I bought an Intel DZ77RE-75K and although it works with my old 3ware 9650SE-12ML, it refuses to work with my new Areca ARC-1223-8i card, so I purchased a LSI 3ware 9750-8i and that didn't work either.

Is it a chipset thing? If one Z77 board fails to recognize a card all the other Z77 boards do the same?

If it is I'm screwed and have lost a lot of money.

LSI 9265 and 9271 worked with Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe, P8Z77 WS and Maximus 5 Formula.
Just make sure you flashed the latest bios. There was incompatibility with early bios releases, now issue is fixed.

I think I have this issue on ASUS Sabertooth Z77 Edit: with i5 3570k. Set turbo multi to 45 in BIOS but won't go above 42 multi in windows, as a result I only get up to 4.2GHz. Will be monitoring this thread hope there's a quick fix out soon.

Roll-back to earlierr BIOS if the new UEFI is not working well for you. I suggest you contact your local ASUS service if you are experiencing issues. Chinese New Year so responses will be delayed.

Don't bother, they already know, and are quoting possible Intel MEI corruption.

Oh wait, that's what I posted several pages back as a possible cause, too. :p

So yeah, they know. Use pre "Win8" bioses for overclock testing, new bios for running those clocks. For me, this begins with VGA crash, but other users with NVidia vga have similar problems. Also, other brands other than ASUS have this problem, but it is only on Z77 boards, I can make same crash in X79 ASUS board, no problems with BIOS getting "stuck".

So, to further the conversation anyway, did you use Win8 on this Sabertooth board?

The more we can identify this problem's cause, the better chance it gets fixed permanently, but I don't think blaming ASUS for this problem is realistic. Just be sure to re-flash BIOS as soon as you notice problem, as if you do not, you could be like me and have a really broken board. :p

MVG and 3770K after a rebuild (took it all apart for a re-seat of waterblock and new tim) and now after cmos reset too I get various q codes after series of resets via the onboard button. These have been 00, 01, 11, F1, and 57.

Would one of you fine folk like to suggest a sequence of tests to establish the source of the issue I have? .... please.

I would tell you the bios version but I am not sure if I updated this one.

Check you did not over-torque the waterblock. If you removed the CPU from the socket, re-seat it also. Might be worth checking if you bent any socket pins.

Do that, then clear CMOS and use a single DIMM in the board and see if it will POST.

Thanks Raja. Re did everything, tried some different ram and after numerous tries, some partially successful, I am now at a bios screen sometimes.

The best I can describe is that either the memory buffer for input from mouse and keyboard is an issue or there are only just enough volts to run something because it has taken me hours to get everything set to auto and still after a few buttons are pushed or the mouse moved more than a couple of times the screen freezes and a moment or two later the rig shuts down.

The furthest I have been is "windows repair" which gave a full loading bar then froze.

Running out of the case on the bench with one stick and gpu and HDD at this time. I am already using a spare PSU.

I guess the board is safe so I could try an alternate cpu.... Again, thoughts anyone?

I hate turning off my rigs...history shows me that the majority of issues I get are when I shut down for some reason

I am at the point where I have swapped cpu, ram, psu, gpu and although I could just about get in to bios a couple of times and see that clr cmos had taken effect, I try to start now and rig hangs at b7 for 10-15 seconds then re-starts.

I had not removed the cpu before but when doing so I found no bent pins. I have not tightened the block too much, it is still under spring pressure of EK HF later mount. red or black slots makes no difference. Samsung green, ripjawsZ and corsair xms tried , all to no avail. 2 different asus 7950's and sapphire and asus 5870's tried too.

Is it time to ask for rma on this MVG?

RMA the board. See if you can check the CPU on another board also. When you get the new motherboard, configure it on a non conductive surface and run it for a few days before you put it in a case.

Which UEFI version were you using on the Gene that does not allow this GPU to POST? Did you try any older Gene UEFI build?
